- exDon began as Don's Transfer in 1946. Don Thomason was the founder and Rex, Don's brother joined as a partner until 1964. They would move anything in those days for 15 cents per mile, round trip, and $2.50 per hour for Don and Rex's manual labor.n 1952, they began construction of the office building on Route 130 just south of Charleston, Illinois. By 1960 they had 5 trucks and a tractor trailer. They bought out Ethington Transfer of Mattoon, Illinois, gaining 13 state permits. Rex went on the road and Don stayed at the office most of the time. In 1964 Don bought Rex's share of the business and continued to be the sole proprietor until 1978, when he sold the business to his oldest son, Chris.ince that time, the business has changed significantly. Still based in Charleston, Illinois, we operate a large fleet of owner-operated trucks. No longer household movers, RexDon Inc has found a market niche by specializing in power-only transportation for customers across the U.S.ur business was founded upon principles of honesty, integrity, and fairness. Our customers know this and respect us for it. Now, over 60 years later these principles still guide us.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! My husband and I downsized from a 2 bedroom home to a 1-room studio apartment in 2006 and needed to place most of our furnishings in storage until we could buy another home. When we first moved out of our home in Charleston, we utilized the services of two different local storage companies. U Store was, by far, the best. We rented two 10 X 20 storage units. Each unit has metal walls and closes with a secured overhead garage door. No one can see what you have in your unit.
I don't know how they do it, but when we checked on our goods two years later, the units had absolutely no musty/mildew smell. Their units are apparently very well vented. There was no evidence of water seepage or humidity anywhere. Everything was dry as can be. And there was surprisingly little dust on our stuff. (I get more dust in my apartment on a monthly basis than I found in our storage lockers!) I was thrilled with how well everything had survived the high heat and humidity that is common in Charleston, IL. No rodents got into our unit. A few small insects (crickets) did get in, but not many and we found no cockroaches or other "plagues" during the entire time our stuff was stored there.
Best of all, however, was the wonderful service provided by U Store's staff. U Store is a family owned business with heart. They treat their clients with utmost respect and compassion. Their manager, Eric, was wonderful to work with whenever we needed anything. We've stored our household goods at U Store for roughly 2 1/2 years and I have had nothing but very positive experiences with them during that entire time.
