Absolutely wonderful. Spent the time explaining everything to me that needed to be done for my new puppy. 10 minutes after I was there I felt like I was around family. Can't wait to take Sophie back to see everyone

Heartworm disease is caused by a parasitic worm that actually lives in the heart chambers and bloodstream of our pets. The only way it is spread is by the bite of infected mosquitoes as they move from animal to animal. The incubation period for heartworms is six (6) months. This is the time period from the actual mosquito bite until we can detect the larvae and/or antigen in the bloodstream.

Parvovirus Infection Treatment
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
FELV is a common infection in cats. It is transmitted primarily in saliva. It can be spread by other bodily fluids, but saliva is the most common. The virus is not stable in the environment so simple soap and water, heat or drying inactivates it. Kittens are most frequently infected by a viremic queen(mother) either across the placenta in the uterus, nursing or most usually when she licks and cleans them. Older cats are more difficult to infect and the cats must engage in prolonged grooming with an infected cat. Casual contact with an infected cat is generally not enough to transmit this disease.

Heart Disease Treatment
The heartworm actually creates heart failure by obstructing the blood flow in and out of the heart. Symptoms will be the same as heart failure--lack of stamina, lethargy, coughing and respiratory difficulty. Advanced cases may also present with a swollen abdomen and legs. In cats these symptoms may not be present. Unfortunately, the only symptom the owner may observe is acute death due to the dislodging of an embolus. For this reason, Heartworm Disease can also be a "silent" disease. Though it does not appear to be as prevalent in cats at this time, it is on the rise.

Early diagnosis of a disease process can lead your pet to a longer healthier life. Kidney disease, if diagnosed early, will allow us to modify your dog or cat’s diet and in some cases add supplements to their diet that can extend their lives. There are many conditions to which an early diagnosis is advantageous.

Puppy vaccinations and puppy visits usually start at six weeks of age. When you adopt a puppy please bring a written record from the breeder or rescue group so we can determine what vaccines and dewormings are due. We generally see puppies at six, nine, twelve and sixteen weeks of age. Puppies get a physical each visit. They will be checked for intestinal parasites, fleas, earmites etc. The age, breed and lifestyle of your pet will determine what vaccines will be administered. We will also discuss housebreaking, training, feeding, heartworms and heartworm preventative plus spaying or neutering. Please bring a stool sample each visit, your puppy will appreciate it.

We are a fully equipped facility offering wellness exams and vaccinations, surgeries (including orthopedics, spay and neutering) mass removals, dental procedures and emergency procedures. We have x-ray capability and a full in-house laboratory. We offer senior care, plus a wide variety of other services (please see the list below for details). X-Ray
Microchipping
Microchipping has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet and you as the owner in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. Microchipping involves placement of a small uniquely coded chip, the size and shape of a piece of rice just under the skin in the neck area. A needle is used to inject the chip. The injection is comparable to a regular vaccine injection.
