Cryotherapy
These growths are caused by a virus called the Human Papilloma Virus or HPV. Several different kinds of warts exist, including those that occur on the hands, feet, and genital area. Transmission is by simple contact. Treatment options vary based on the type and location of the wart and include topical prescription medications, cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen, cantharone application, electrodessication, and intralesional Bleomycin.

Actinic Keratoses are pre-cancerous lesions caused by excessive exposure to UV light from indoor tanning or light from the sun. They usually appear as dry, scaly, rough lesions in sun exposed areas. If left untreated, some actinic keratosis may turn into squamous cell skin cancer. Common treatment options include: cryosurgery, photodynamic therapy, and topical chemotherapy.

Dr. Amin is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign, and her graduate studies at the Boston University School of Medicine, Division of Graduate Medical Sciences. She received her medical degree from Midwestern University and completed her internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago and dermatology residency at Lutheran Medical Center in New York. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the Chicago Dermatological Society, and the American Osteopathic Association. She is a physician on the medical staff at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Amin enjoys teaching, and is actively involved in the education and training of medical students, interns, residents, and medical assistants.
Skin Cancer
There are multiple types of skin cancer. Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer in the United States. It occurs on areas of chronic sun exposure such as the face, scalp, neck, and upper body. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) is another type of skin cancer that also occurs on sun exposed areas. Malignant Melanoma is a very serious skin cancer because it can metastasize or spread to other parts of the body. Melanomas usually present as darkly pigmented lesions with a highly irregular appearance. Some moles can progress into melanomas and therefore, if you notice any changes in your existing moles, you should make an appointment for evaluation. The best way to prevent skin cancer is by wearing sun protective clothing, using a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30, and getting a yearly skin exam.
Dermatology
Stephanie received her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in 2012. While a graduate student, her training included extensive work at a dermatology clinic in Green Bay, WI. Prior to that, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After graduation and before joining Nima Skin Institute, Stephanie was a physician assistant for a medical group in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant and her professional memberships include American Academy of Physician Assistants, Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants, Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, and American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants. Stephanie has received training in both medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She can diagnose and treat common dermatologic disorders, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and warts, as well as perform dermatologic surgical and cosmetic procedures. Cosmetic treatments that she provides include laser hair removal, the Laser Genesis procedure, Hydrafacial, as well as chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys distance running and trying out new restaurants around the city.
Acne Treatment
Eczema
Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition characterized by dry, scaly patches on the skin that are very itchy. It can occur in patients with a personal or family history of asthma or allergies. Often, it is present at birth and can start as scaly patches on the cheeks of a newborn.

Chemical Peels
Melasma is an acquired brown pigmentation of the skin most commonly involving the face. It occurs in predisposed women, occasionally in men, and is thought to arise from a hormonal imbalance. It is common in women taking oral contraceptives, during pregnancy, or while going through menopause. Treatment involves the use of prescription skin bleaching creams, sun avoidance, and medical strength chemical peels.
