I don't typically post rants online, but I was so appalled at the service I received today at J. Gumbo's, I am making an exception. My friend and I went for lunch today. We were second in line and there were 2 tables left. I grabbed one table while she ordered for us. We got our food in to-go containers because I can never finish my food. about 3 minutes after we started eating, the manager came and asked us to leave. She said that she had a lot people waiting and since we got our food to-go, we needed to leave and allow other customers to sit. I was in total disbelief, as were the people at tables nearby. After a bit of arguing, we agreed to leave but they also refused to refund me on my almost uneaten food. I called the Regional Manager this afternoon and guess what - she condoned the behavior. they were "between a rock and a hard place" because customers were complaining about no tables. My response was that this is fast food and tables are first come, first serve - there isn't a rock and a hard place. I paid, I was there first. they weren't asking people who were done eating to leave either. I will never return to J. Gumbo's and I plan to share this story with as many Cinti locals as I can. I'm also checking into whether they were allowed to eject a paying customer who wasn't doing anything wrong.

The food here is good which is why i WAS a regular customer, until today. I ordered my food to-go because I wasn't very hungry and I wanted to take the leftovers home. After getting my food I sat at a table, not long after that I was approached by a staff member who at first asked me to LEAVE!!! She actually told me, "we have paying customers who pay to eat-in, so since you got it to-go we would like you to go ahead and go..." Seriously because I didn't give them the State's sales tax you are charged when dining-in, this girl told me I needed to leave the store. When I explained why I had gotten a "to-go" box today she then referred me to a tiny counter facing the wall. Had she just asked me to move in the first place, I would have had no problem. But since I was treated like a homeless person begging for food, or a solicitor, I am deeply offended and won't be going back. Im pretty sure telling a perfectly innocent paying customer to get out is not worthy of my business anymore.
