Providing for Your Pets Since 1975
- General Info
- Because animals age more rapidly than their human companions, our veterinary clinic recommends a bi-annual assessment. Our comprehensive pet check-up includes a top-quality, preventative care exam as well as a helpful consultation from our doctor. We specialize in the treatment of dogs and cats from their puppy and kitten stage on up. Our pet doctor makes sure that they are gaining weight correctly and are up to date with their immunizations; their overall health is also examined.

I've been taking our pets here for years for regular health check ups and grooming needs. They have vaccination clinics available too!
They pressured my mom to put down our family dog because he was aggressive. The vet told her the following, "He was born that way, he should have never been born, we are going read about how you lost everything in the paper because he bit someone, you would be crazy to take him home". For one, our dog was not born that way--he was a German Shepherd, a working dog. NO DOG is ever born a "bad dog". Some are more predisposed to "red zoning" due to their breeding to fight such as pit bulls. Our dog was NOT one of those cases.
The cause of his aggression was due to the fact that he wasn't getting the exercise he needed, this lack of exercise turned to frustration which then turned to agression with people and situations he wasn't familiar with. I was working on an exercise regiment that would allow him to have a "job" and get adequate exercise for his breed. He would pull me behind a skateboard for miles but unfortunately I took a spill and hurt my ankle recently so we haven't been able to ride for a while. After our skateboard rides he would calm, happy and content because he was fulfilling his role in our "pack". Another unfortunate reason for his aggression was that he was forced to be isolated in the backyard due to my parent's obsession with my dog's hair being everywhere. Dogs are social animals and they need to be part of a family or "pack" to be properly socially developed. As Ceasar Milan put it, "dogs are like mirrors, they reflect what you put into them" each dog needs the proper amount
of exercise, discipline and affection in that order.
If I knew it came down to some vet pressuring my mother into making a difficult position of choosing between the family and the dog I would have done everything possible to find him the home he deserved. My friend did not deserve this...there are other resources available for dogs and euthanizing should be the LAST resort instead of the first solution. This vet SHOULD NOT have pressured my mother into making a decision between "him or the family" like that.
I am not writing this out of malice or anger, rather out of respect for Sparty--he would have died for me and I think that there are othere dogs out there that received the same treatment. I will be happy if this vet reads Ceasar Milan's work and takes the message that Ceasar has to say to heart. Ceasar Milan is a dog behavior analyst that has helped hundreds of dogs perhaps-the would then better be able to serve and understand dogs and do no harm if he read Ceasar's work.
WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN
I am sadly disappointed with the service I received when I brought my 2 yorkies in for services. The dr and what I'm assuming was a tech were extremely rude and pushy. My dogs had gotten fleas and an ear infection from their last grooming. The tone from the dr was cold and demeaning he acted like I neglect my animals. So first off the tech comes in the room with multiple medications thatadd up quickly. When she showed me the estimate she never went over any of it other than the Nexgard that is $22 more than anywhere else and that's each dog ($77 a box) than a pill that only works for 24 hours on top of that. So between the 2 dogs the bill is $495.70
$160 for Osurnia gel that costs $29 a tube + 81.70 for 7 pills that cost less than $3 each and the rest was all office visit fees.
So $25 in meds because it's given by rude unfriendly people cost me $495.70

We are truck drivers and were out of town. Our doggy stopped using his back legs. We went here on referrals. It was the best visit ever. Everyone from the front desk to the exam rooms are absolutely amazing. The Doctor diagnosed him, gave meds and recommendation for follow up! Very reasonable bill. Unbelievable. You all are sent from Heaven. Buddy boy is doing great. Not completely walking yet but he is on his way!

I'm surprised to see some of these very low-rated reviews. I've never experienced anything but professionalism and kindness with the five pets that are patients at Sylvan Pet Hospital. It's the first vet that I don't feel pressure from when making decisions about treatment options. I have a couple of high-needs dogs and they are well taken care of at Sylvan. I'm glad I was referred and will continue to seek care here for my animals.

My mother had been taking her beloved Zoe there for years. Zoe was very old and had been having seizures, her last seizure was too much for both my mother and Zoe’s and the difficult decision to end Zoe’s suffering was made. But Sylvan told my mother “unless you can get here in 5 minutes, you’ll have to wait until our next appointment 2 days from now”. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I just called for a similar situation and was told “our next appointment isn’t until Saturday (3 days from now). Death is not easy or convenient for anyone. But I guess that is what Sylvan expects. There was no heart or compassion in the voice of EITHER person who we spoke to on the phone. Pets are FAMILY and EVERY vets office should set that same expectation. I understand being busy but not the lack of compassion or empathy. There was simply a ‘suck to be you’ attitude with both incidents=very disappointed with this office.

I love this VET! They are so professional, thorough, and timely. Their wide variety of services makes it easy to use them for all my puppies needs, and she loves it there. It is especially nice to take your pet to a familiar place to get groomed and boarded. The staff is very friendly and their love for animals really shows.

Great prices, they really care about my pets. They follow up with phone calls, even had a technician name Robert call me after they were closed one night after he went and checked on my cat. thank you sylvan corners

We have 7 animals and they are all aging, so when we moved we were looking for a vet that could handle all our needs. Sylvan Corners has been good for us so far. Pricing is about average, and they are good about giving you high and low estimates and discussing alternative options. They have good sales on flea products which can make a huge difference in how much we pay for it.
We use Dr. Cohen, and my only (semi) complaint is that she is quick to refer to a specialist$$$ if the problem appears to be out of her scope. This is probably the right thing to do, I just hate how much is costs when it happens.
All the animals seem to like the staff and vets, and we never have a problem getting an appointment. They are flexible and offer cheap vaccinations on the weekends. Front desk help and techs are all great.
