Great place to adopt a fur baby! Not the best place to volunteer if you have allergies but so many cats up there need homes.

i would say don't go there or don't ask for help. My daughter saw a stray cat in our yard on a Sunday, he was hurt we called our vet but they wanted money that we didn't have. So my daughter called the humane society but got no answer, she then called cat are us, they called back and said bring him to petsmart where the vet would take care of him. We had already agreed to keep him, they took him back without my daughter, the cats are us lady came out and said that they were doing blood work and the results would be back in 24 hours, then they would treat his injuries. We waited for them to bring him back for us to take him home till today when we would know the results of the blood tests. They came out and said they did a snap test and he wouldn't make it thru surgrey and they had put him down. This cat was eating , drinking ,meowing, and releaving himself, he would have made it thru surgrey or a least he would have had a chance. If they had told us what they were doing we would have brought him home and waited for the humane society to call us back today.

In all fairness, this is strictly a volunteer organization and I have known a couple of the ladies for quite some time - they DO have lives. They do, however, give up alot of time and resources to save cats and seem to be continually trying to raise money for their cause. I now need to contact them on Monday morning because someone in my neighborhood decided to throw their kitten out the front door this evening when temps are supposed to dip into the 40's. Why? Because they didn't want to spend 4 bucks at Walmart for dewormer. I would HIGHLY recommend this rescue because they DO screen their applicants carefully to find the best homes for these unwanted animals and they ensure that the cats have their medical needs taken care of.

On September 3, 2011, I took my family into PetSmart on Wilma Rudulph Blvd in Clarksville, TN in search of a new pet for our home. We found a 4 month old kitten (Lorenzo) and fell in love with him. I requested to fill out an application and was forthcoming with honest answers to all questions asked of me. I was told that there was some concern about the fact that I have a 3 year old boxer whom I have not neutered yet. I also informed the ladies that I did have a child who had been diagnosed with an allergy to cats as an infant but has seemed to have grown out of it as he has been exposed to cats and now seems non-reactive to them. I understand and respect that these are valid concerns. Regardless, I was told that a vet reference would be conducted on the following Tuesday with my vet and that someone would contact me and bring the kitten to my home to observe interaction with my dog. It is now almost 2 weeks later and I have heard from NO ONE. I even asked my vet if the reference call was ever made and he said that it HAD NOT.

This is NOT a way to conduct business and if I could rate with less than 1 star, I would.

No Kill Shelter

It's is easy for people to complain unless they have been to the facility and seen for themselves how hard people work to keep the cats clean and comfortable. The shelter is a not-for-profit organization and to be able to keep up with everything they have limited hours. You may stop by the shelter between 10 a.m. and noon Monday through Saturday or call 931-503-0053 during that time.

Responsible pet owners that do not leave their pets behind when they move, that spay and neuter their pets are the first step to make sure all our rescues have more resources and space available.

Cats R Us has so many cats and yes, dogs as well, that it takes several volunteers many hours just to do the daily chores of feeding and cleaning.

Getting in touch with you

My family has called Cats R Us over and over and over and no one EVER answers the phone. What good is this service if there is no one answering the phone to help? I am never going to recommend them since they obviously do not care about helping the city of Clarksville; otherwise they would have someone at the office to answer phone calls and give out information.
