Urology encompasses the entire realm of the urinary system, including the kidneys (kidney stones and tumors), bladder, prostate, and other systems. In simple terms, Dr. Thomas B. Edmunds is a specially trained plumber, fixing what is leaky or blocked (big prostates), removing bad pieces of plumbing (cancer) and otherwise looking after the entire urinary tract. Because of patient numbers, and our desire to give each patient as much time as they need, Dr. Edmunds has chosen to limit his urological practice to the diagnoses and procedures / surgeries that he really enjoys performing, and feels can deliver in an expert manner. As a solo practitioner, Dr. Edmunds is able to offer patients personal, compassionate relationships with his staff and himself, and a commitment to providing you the best care he possibly can, surgically and/or non-surgically. Our philosophy at Capitol Urology is to treat you as one of our own family members. Dr. Edmunds has specialized, via experience and training, in treating prostate cancer, including nerve-sparing radical prostatectomies robotics, laser treatment of enlarged prostates (if medicine falls), laparoscopic hand assisted removal of kidneys, no-scalpel vasectomies in the office and a host of other surgeries which should always be the last option, but in some cases, is the best route to take, especially when dealing with cancer.
