In 2020, the physicians of Columbus Ortho recruited Dr. Walters to expand the clinic’s services to help patients who suffer from orthopedic pain and non-orthopaedic pain. When an athlete goes down during a game with a concussion or injury, usually the first person you see running onto the field is the Certified Athletic Trainer. They are able to quickly assess the athlete, provide emergency care/first aid, and determine the extent of the injury or condition. The ATC will decide if the athlete is safe to come off the field on their own, with help or on a cart. On the sidelines, the ATC will do further evaluations to determine if it is safe for the athlete to return to the game or requires additional evaluation by a sports medicine doctor or orthopaedic surgeon.

When a patient comes to see Dr. Edwards with a bad back or stiff neck, he knows the importance of identifying the cause and relieving their pain and improving their function. Sometimes it is a back strain or neck strain, pinched nerve, sciatica, bulging disc or herniated disc that causes this discomfort. His total joint patients also have a dedicated nurse case manager to educate and support them throughout their experience. Dr. Jones is able to take care of many total joint patients at the outpatient surgery center located right next door.
