My apartment complex hired Edwards Steel to rebuild the staircases to our apartment, a job that was estimated to be 3-4 days but were all told "most likely 2". So let me set the scene before I complain...We had to leave our apartments for the length of the construction and were put in half furnished loaner apartments, so no cookware, no towels, no microwave, the bare essentials. Needless to say we're uncomfortable. I realize that this is not ES problem but them dragging it out is. So again, told that it would be a 3 day job ES shows up on day one, rips out the steps and then disappears for the next 2 days, reporting issues with the steel supply (why you would begin such a time sensitive job without all of the necessary parts is beyond me). They come back on day 4 do little to nothing all day (mostly just sitting around and talking and clanging stuff around) leaving the site in the same condition it was on the first day. When they come back on day 5 (we're now past the deadline) it takes them nearly 6 hours to lay down 1 flight of steps then another bunch of standing and chatting, and then by the end of the day they rush and nearly finish leaving only a few railings to be put in. However since they showed that they could do the VAST majority of the work in 1/3 of a work day, leads me to believe they could have finished it if they weren't THE LAZIEST PEOPLE EVER. Now it is Saturday, day 6 and I have been told they will not be back until Monday. WHAT?!?! They took the weekend off?!?! Meaning that a 2-4 day project will now be 8!!!! and for a set of stairs!?! Mind you, there have been 3-4 men working per day. Yet they pride themselves on their website for exceptional communication and NO lag time. Yeah right! I now have to go out and buy clothing, toiletries, dog food, etc. because I was told 4 days max and only brought enough things to the loaner apartment for those 4 days. In addition, I'm sure that I'll have to throw out food when I'm eventually allowed to return to my home. Edwards Steel is a joke of a company with an even bigger joke of a work ethic. If I was employing these people they would be immediately fired after they "finish" on Monday. However at this rate it could be another week before I get to return home.
