I have transferred my pet to another vet due to the aggression and lack of professionalism Dr. Brooks displayed when I went to pick up my mom's dog. She said she left a credit card, but they didn't show it on record. Even though my family has been going to that vet since 1995, they wouldn't release my mom's pet to me without payment and Dr. Brooks even took it as far as locking me in check up room and yelling at me to turn over the dog. Needless to say, he has rage issues.... I can only imagine how he treats an animal that angers him. I will NEVER go here again and wouldn't trust Dr. Brooks alone with a flea.

So unprofessional. If you have an appointment at 8 don't bother to get there early, like with any other clinic. Why does your name have the word "hospital" in it? Definitely not acute care. You can be waiting on their door step to get in with an anxious dog and they'll turn their heads and make you wait out there. Reluctantly they let me in at 5 til. Thanks...
Once you get inside don't expect anything to get better. You'll wait on the chair while front desk ignores you and your dog, get taken back to a room to have a vet tech give up after 2 attempts of checking your dogs ears and say "well we just won't check your ears then..." Didn't attempt to give him treats or try soothing him down. No reinforcements or therapeutic behavior.
Maybe it's just a bad Monday morning crew, but I wouldn't take any chances. Will not be going back.
Your dog deserves better.

We've tried three different vets in the area and Lakeside is the best. We have several animals under this roof and can testify that all receive top notch care here.

If this was 2006, I would have said that I liked this vet clinic. I took one of my cats in for a tumor that was removed and she is still a healthy happy kitty to this day.
I took one of my dogs to them last year because of a growth on her muzzle. Was given some antibiotics and sent on my way. Took her back a week later saying they weren't working, asked for x-rays and the whole nine yards, and was given more antibiotics and steroids and sent on my way. (Told at the time x-ray would do no good unless the "swelling" went down.)
We went to this same vet OVER 8 TIMES during the holidays trying to save her. We asked "what can we do? Can we get more tests, can we get x-rays etc etc..." We even rushed her to an ER on Christmas Day which didn't have the best results since it was the nearest one we could find that could really only provide some pain relievers for her.
To make a long heart breaking story short, they never did what we asked regardless of the fact that we were more than willing to pay to have more tests done to keep our little girl with us for longer. She was not a young dog, (10 y/o) but should have had a few more years left in her.
Specific issues I've had with going to this vet clinic - 1) Almost never seeing the same doctor more than once. How would you feel as a person going to see a doctor and getting someone different every time? There was no personal connection to my dog which for many people is a member of their family and should be treated as such. 2) Never getting a real answer about what was wrong with the dog. They didn't test blood, didn't x-ray, didn't do anything I would have considered 'normal'. Pills don't fix everything and after bringing her back over and over you'd think they'd have a clue to look deeper into the issue.
Our dog died just after the New Year at home in my arms. And I have NO IDEA WHY. We would have paid to have all the tests done, we would have had her peaceably put down if there was no hope. But we never knew.
I thought maybe that this vet was on the side of the people who have a hard time affording heavy duty vet costs, but it seems even when you are willing to pay, they just throw a prescription at you and send you on your way. Sad.
Even a year later I still wonder what happened to our little girl, and WHY. We will never know, and that really bothers me.
