San Miguel Villa

Service is good except my wife is left wet all night.

Having first hand account of San Miguel Villa, I can honestly say, the place is nothing less than corrupt. The facility has a "secured unit" for dementia patients and some patients who were discharged from the hospital with an altered mental status, but not dementia are also thrown back there and locked in. And the government (medicaid) is billed 7k a month to house them. Not to mention, they make the environment on this unit stressful and do not engage the patients in activities, so they often end up becoming combative with each other. The fact that the facility is constantly changing the medications these patients receive and plan of care does not help and if anything, facilitates a hostile environment. In fact, I think it is done intentionally to save money despite the risk to the patients.

And the owner presents herself as a Christian (Morman) and prays with her staff everyday. Well, if both she and her staff are the angels of mercy then I want to go straight to hell !!

Do not place your loved ones here, it is a death trap!!

My mother was recently admitted as a short term patient for rehabilitation after a brief stay at a local hospital. I took a tour of the facility before my mother was admitted there and I was shown the facility. It is an older facility and I did see other facilities that looked better, however I was impressed with all of the staff that I met. The staff was very friendly, the therapy dept. worked with my mom at her pace. She returned home in three weeks, and was much stronger and is doing well. Thanks San Miguel!

I've been visiting patients at Sam Miguel for 7 or 8 years and if you come often and get to know the staff your family member will do well. It is a very hard job and there is a lot of turnover I think mostly because of the chronic staff shortage. On the plus side San Miguel accepts medicare patients without hesitation while other facilities put you on a "waiting list" but you never hear from them again.

There are the few exceptions of very friendly, caring, workers, the rest seem just competent. The receptionist is rude, the place just lacks compassion and sincerity. I've heard this is the best care home in the area...I think our area can do better.
