I needed a videographer on short notice to capture a memorial service for someone who passed away tragically. Carlisle Video was able to accommodate me. I am not an authority on videography and could not tell them specifically what I wanted and I was also consumed with so much else. Just that it needed to be very professional and tasteful. I asked that they take charge. I was so happy with the result and could not have thought up any of what they provided. Here is what they did without any instruction from me. Allison got there early and set up two cameras – one from up above viewing the stage from slightly overhead and one that she manned live – on a tripod for the event, and roving for the after activities. Ahead of time, she filmed various shots of the exterior of the church, the different settings inside and floral arrangements before people arrived. She filmed people coming in. The entire service was filmed start to finish with both cameras. Refreshments and comments after were also filmed, along with the table settings, etc. From what was filmed and captured, they provided a number of different segments on the DVD after the editing process (just like you get on a commercial DVD with selections). The hand out program was fully scanned in a rolling video sequence for one selection with lovely music that they chose playing in the background. An Introduction segment with beautiful music was another selection on the DVD showing shots of the exterior, the floral arrangements, and slow motion clips of people and groups coming in (edited so it was not long, but very viewable – a good introduction and an important element – I wouldn’t have thought of that). Then the event was captured fully with shots from the upper camera interspersed in appropriate places. There were also separate selections on the DVD of some of the video clips that were part of the service (photo and music montage) that you could view separately. And the post-service activities were edited to include all the personal comments, table settings and happenings. Finally, it all came in a professional DVD case that was high quality and created with images of the event making up the covers. As I said, I am no expert on this so I would not have been surprised to get one DVD of the event from start to finish and not known any different. I was so surprised and appreciative to find a professional, lovely, usable result with many bells and whistles with virtually no guidance from me. All through, the video quality and audio were perfect. Any audible issues or disruptions were obviously edited out and the final result was much more than I would have expected. It is completely professional in video and audio quality. Not a word was missed or unclear. I now recognize that there is much skill in the editing that you have to rely on the professionals for to capture all the shots and images, and then edit them accordingly for the technical quality along with the aesthetics of what you really want to see. I am sure that part took quite a bit of time along with the number of hours that she was there on site. The final DVD and packaging were back to me in less than 2 weeks as I needed to be able to distribute it fairly quickly. I’m not sure what normal turnaround time is but I asked if it could be done quickly and it was. I never expected the highly edited result we got and I couldn’t thank them enough. Because of the way the editing is done, I do think people will go back to the DVD more. It is easy to look at just the parts you want to, and the editing choices of the various pieces other than the event makes it like a selection of mini-movies. I am grateful for all they were able to do for us during a difficult time.
