Lake County Educational Service Center, located in Painesville, Ohio, provides a range of services for students. The center operates the Dr. James H. Porter Center for Science and Mathematics that was set up as a response to the schools requests to enhance the science and mathematics curriculum. The center offers hands-on, discovery-based learning programs. It also offers early childhood services in a variety of settings, including public and private preschools, kindergarten classrooms and in homes. Lake County Educational Service Center also operated the lake academy that gives students the necessary support services and basic education to help them to be successful once they return to their traditional educational program. The academy offers programs to reduce the number of students who drop out of school and increase the graduation rate.
