Today, some 80 caregivers serve the 48 New Horizons Village residents. The staff includes direct care workers, nurses, a dietitian, food service personnel, a maintenance crew, social worker, housekeeping, therapists, and administration staff. New Horizons Village provides 24-hour supervision in addition to its full array of services and care for the developmentally disabled, all designed to help them prosper and achieve as much independence as possible in their daily living. Reasons why an individual becomes eligible for New Horizons Village residency may include mental retardation with secondary issues that may include autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, behavior and neurological impairment and other factors.
