Although we specialize in several neurological disorders, which include chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multiple sclerosis (MS), myasthenia gravis (MG), vasculitis, migraine, and inflammatory neuropathies, we also infuse patients who have other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoporosis, and many others. The treatment involves administration of prescribed medications by the patient's treating physician into a vein through a catheter, as well as injectable medications that require monitoring by a nurse. Our center maintains a patient-friendly atmosphere to make your visit comfortable.
Fibromyalgia
Some musculoskeletal disorders affect primarily the joints, causing arthritis. Others affect primarily the bones (eg, fractures, Paget's disease, tumors), muscles or other extra-articular soft tissues (eg, polymyalgia rheumatica, fibromyalgia), or periarticular soft tissues (eg, bursitis, tendinitis, sprain). Arthritis has myriad possible causes, including infection, autoimmune disease, crystal-induced inflammation, other kinds of inflammation, and noninflammatory tissue degeneration; systemic diseases may be involved. Arthritis may affect single or multiple joints, in either a symmetric or asymmetric manner.

Ashley was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Texas Woman's University. She has six years of nursing experience, spending most of that time in the Parkland emergency room. Ashley received her Master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman's University. She enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with her husband David and their dogs.
Immunizations
If you are on an interferon or injectable based therapy such as Avonex, Plegridy, Rebif, Betaseron, Copaxone, or Kesimpta, consider avoiding vaccination on the very same day as these treatments. For all other MS disease modifying treatments, there are no special considerations regarding the timing of receiving the vaccine and you may receive the vaccine while taking your disease modifying therapy. Although the vaccine is highly effective, we recommend continuing to social distance and wear masks in public after getting the vaccine. If you have additional questions or concerns, reach out to your health care provider. The above recommendations are in regards to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. These suggestions may change at any time as more information and vaccines become available.

Paige is a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to joining Texas Neurology she worked at Methodist Dallas as a nurse for over six years in the surgical trauma intensive care unit and labor and delivery. Paige lives in Dallas and enjoys biking, traveling and spending time with her husband Travis and their dog Jack.

Multiple Sclerosis
Spasticity is a condition in which certain muscles are overactive, causing stiffness or tightness, and sometimes pain. Spasticity is usually caused by a disruption of the nerve signals from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles. This can often occur in patients who have suffered a stroke, spinal cord or traumatic brain injury, and in persons with multiple sclerosis.

Patients with seizures that start from a single source in the brain are evaluated for epilepsy surgery combined with brain mapping in order to offer best precision in removing the seizure source without causing long term impairments.

MRI
An MRI is an advanced way of taking pictures of the inner brain or other areas. It is harmless and involves magnetic fields and radio waves. It is performed when a patient is lying in a small chamber for about 30 minutes. Because the MRI utilizes a very strong magnet, if you have metal in your body other than dental filings, please notify your physician. Be sure to tell your physician if you suffer from claustrophobia (fear of closed areas). A physician can offer recommendations that can help you relax. This test is simple and painless.

Physical Therapy
Barrett was born and raised in Dallas, TX. He attended Texas Tech University and received his Bachelors in Exercise Sports Science. After college, Barrett worked as physical therapy technician while running boot camps, personal training, and completing pre-requisites for nursing school. He attended nursing school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he received a Bachelors in Nursing. Barrett worked at Parkland Hospital for two years while while finishing his masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Walden University. Barrett and his wife Zoe recently welcomed their sweet daughter LulaMae and are also proud parents to their pup Heidi. In his spare time, Barrett enjoys movies, fishing in East Texas, staying active and cooking.
Occupational Therapy
Treatment of spasticity may include physical and occupational therapy, botulinum toxin injections, oral medications, intrathecal therapy, orthotics, or surgery. As spasticity is so individualized, successful treatment requires a partnership as well as a coordination of care with you and the care team of physicians, nurses, and therapists all working together to minimize serious complications that can occur when spasticity is left untreated.
