My name is Janice Anderson. I am an RN with 30+ years of experience, the last 19 or so being in the operating room. I have a grand total of 5 herniated discs: C 5-6, T 11-12, L 3-4, L 4-5, & LS-51, all job related). I also have fibromyalgia. I have been under intermittent routine chiropractic care since 1993 with excellent relief. For the last couple of years, I have noticed that my pain levels are increasing and my adjustments are not holding as long as they used to. As anyone reading this knows, pain affects EVERYTHING I It had gotten to the point where my medication regimen was no longer effective & on "really bad" nights (which were occurring more & more frequently), the pain made it impossible to get comfortable. There wasn't a spot on my back that didn't hurt. I couldn't balance on one foot, I couldn't pick myself up off of the floor without the "assistance" of a chair, table or counter, I couldn't get up off of a couch or chair without pulling myself up, I couldn't walk straight (meaning I waddled & limped) because my back hurt so bad & my left leg felt like lead & didn't work right. My first herniation occurred around 2009. I have had numbness on the outside part of my left foot & sole ever since. After herniating L 3-4, I have had intermittent issues with urinary incontinence...! say intermittent because after an adjustment, it goes away...l also experienced the sensation of feeling like my legs from the hips down would just shoot out from under me...very weird to say the least. Intimate relations with my partner were also adversely affected due to pain & dulled sensation.
