I began going to Life’s Journey earlier this year when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. A coworker recommended them to me and I am so happy I took her advice. The entire staff has been so kind, professional and knowledgeable throughout my entire pregnancy. I also have to say that they have the absolute best ultrasound technician in the business. Amanda was not only knowledgeable and informative, but obviously a person who loves and takes pride in her work. Because my pregnancy was considered high risk due to my age and other factors, I had to have more ultrasounds than average. Amanda always put us at ease and made each ultrasound a special time for us to feel connected to our baby boy.

Overall

The following is an excerpt from Life's Journey website:

Our practice is a women-centered practice DEDICATED TO TREATING EACH PATIENT WITH INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION AND COMPASSION. We offer personalized care to the women in DuBois and the surrounding areas, providing complete obstetrical and gynecologic services in a CARING ATMOSPHERE. This is “false advertising.” After my very unpleasant experience with your office staff this morning, IT SEEMS AS IF LIFE'S JOURNEY HAS BECOME "TOO BUSY" WITH THEIR HEAVY PATIENT LOAD TO TREAT THEIR PATIENTS WITH RESPECT AND KINDNESS.

I was treated very rudely at Life's Journey office this morning and was refused to be seen by Dr. Green! For circumstances beyond my control, I was 10 minutes late for my 8:20 AM appointment. I tried calling the office to tell them that I would be late but I couldn't get through the office phone system. About 5 minutes later, I was called by the receptionist at Life's Journey, telling me that it was their "office policy" that I should have been there 15 minutes EARLIER than my scheduled appointment time. I told her that I was sorry and didn't know that and thought that was only if I was a new patient and that it was my first appointment at Life's Journey.

The receptionist literally scolded me for being late. She said that I would have to "hold" on the phone while she asked if Dr. Green would still see me this morning. While still holding on the phone, I walked into Life Journey's office and she then told me (in front of everyone else in the office) that Dr. Green would not see me and I would have to reschedule my appointment! I felt like a "beggar at the door" and a "child at the principal's office." I told her that I always get my annual gynecological appointment at the end of every year and that I really needed to be seen before 12/31/15 because my health insurance was going to change beginning 1/1/16. She said that there were no openings and said that she would reschedule me for sometime in early 2016. I told her that wasn't necessary because I was going to switch doctors after being treated so rudely and callously.

My appointment was RESCHEDULED AT LEAST TWICE prior to today's office appointment. I told her that I was always cooperative with rescheduling when the office called me. Now that the "shoe was on the other foot," no such grace would be granted to me.

I was so upset this morning that I shared my unpleasant experience with 3 of my friends. Two of those friends also said that your office also constantly calls them to reschedule their appointments. Also, it's totally acceptable if you make your patients wait in the waiting room but it's not OK if your patient makes you wait. I don't like this "double standard."

I have already decided that I no longer want to be a patient of Life's Journey.
