John Hykes, Janice Shimmin and John Shimmin founded Accu-sembly in 1983. The three originally worked out of their garage in San Gabriel, Calif., assembling alarm systems at night. With the purchase of a Solderette manually operated tabletop wave solder machine and a few more employees, Accu-sembly continued to grow. In 1991, the company purchased its first surface mount technology assembly line. By 1997, it gained several SMT lines and relocated to a 15,000 square-foot facility. Accu-sembly currently has a staff of nearly 100 full-time personnel that provide a variety of electronic assembly services to a range of customers in many different industries. The company offers a variety of services with an assortment of equipment, including SMT, such as screen printers, pick and place, reflow oven and ball grid array rework,; through-hole assembly; turnkey procurement; mechanical assembly, including chassis assembly, testing and potting stations; and engineering services. Accu-sembly is headquartered in Duarte, Calif.
