X-rays
Knowing what to expect during your first visit to the oral surgeon can help you feel calm and prepared for your appointment. Every new patient must have an exam and consultation prior to their surgery. During this visit, you will get to know your surgeon and our friendly and caring office staff. You will also have time to discuss any questions or concerns you have about the procedure. The exam will include dental x-rays, a comprehensive review of your health history, and an estimate of your out-of-pocket cost. In many wisdom tooth cases, we can complete both the consultation and surgery on the same day.

Because each patient’s treatment plan is unique, the cost of treatment varies greatly. If finances are an issue, consider a phased treatment plan or financing. Some patient financing companies offer low- and no-interest loans for qualified applicants. You can use dental insurance and health savings accounts to help with full mouth reconstruction costs. If finances are an issue, be sure to tell your surgeon and dentist. The doctor may have the option to use dental materials and procedures that can make your treatment more affordable. Of course, less esthetic materials (metal instead of natural looking) and alternate materials (bonding instead of veneers) come with some concessions. Discuss the pros and cons of various dental materials and treatment options with your doctor before undergoing treatment.
Crowns

Oral Surgery
While recovering from oral surgery, it is important to carefully follow any post-operative instructions from your dentist. Your doctor will likely provide you with specific oral surgery aftercare instructions before your procedure to help you prepare for the recovery process.

Dr. Gibson gained significant experience in all scopes of clinical practice during her residency, including wisdom teeth, pre-prosthetic surgery, and dental implants. She has also received extensive instruction on properly managing hospital procedures including trauma, benign pathology and reconstruction, as well as orthognathic surgery. Her greatest interests include wisdom teeth, implants, and corrective jaw surgery. Outside of the office, Dr. Gibson loves spending time with her large family, including multiple siblings, nieces and nephews, while staying active with crossfit and being outdoors on the water.

Dr. Moore completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, training at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Montefiore Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Moore practices full scope Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Moore now also practices in his hometown at our new location in Powdersville.

Ridge Augmentation

Braces
Just because there is room for the eyetooth to move, does not mean that it will automatically do so. If the impacted canine does not naturally fill the space between the incisor and premolars, additional measures will need to be taken. Normally, an orthodontist and oral surgeon work together to create solutions for the impacted canine. Usually, braces will be placed on the cuspids to help them into their rightful arc. If there is no space for the impacted canine to move into, the orthodontist will use braces to create space.

Dr. Larry W. Cobb was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Newberry College for his undergraduate studies where he played football and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After a two-year stint working with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, he then attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine, from where he graduated in 1978. Upon graduation, he practiced general dentistry for two years in Landrum, South Carolina to fulfill his commitment to South Carolina DHEC to practice for a given amount of time in an underserved area of the state.
