Barn Board Builders

They are the best! I have done six major building projects on my homes and Barn Board Builders are head and shoulders above the rest. They are true craftsman. Every nail is lined up perfectly and they go out of their way to use only the finest material. You only need to mention something once and it is taken care of. The workers have been with them for many years, more than 20 in most cases and they know what to do and how to do it.



They added extensions to both sides of my home in East Hampton. All my neighbors have stopped by to say how beautiful it looks. Everything in the contract was completed and easily passed inspection. The inspector from the town was impressed.



I recommend them highly and without reservation!

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE !!!! These people basically subcontract all the work out - if you do decide to use these which I strongly recommend against then whatever you do GET A CONTRACT SIGNED !!! I made the stupid mistake of not having a contract signed and boy did I regret it - the bills came in every few weeks and none of them were small and not a single bill was itemized, instead they sent an extremely rather conveniently vague "progress report" that just vaguely mentioned what was done - I had even insisted of more accurate itemized invoices but of course I never got them. My last and final bill which was for the last two weeks of work was five times what was suggested and was well into six figures so of course I had to seek legal advise. My attorney told me that I'd easily win but after his warnings to me at how much the legal fees could escalate to and the fact that I couldn't be bothered to go through all the hassle I decided to settle in the middle ( I'm sure this is one of the oldest tricks in the book that certain builders pull on people who haven't signed contracts)

The standard of the work was way below average and when my attorney brought over an inspector to view the work that had been done he was shocked at how bad everything was. The paint work was sloppy and there are paint marks all over the brand new hardwood floor , they couldn't even be bothered to wipe paint off of my brand new Wolf oven hood which cost me a fortune. The hardwood flooring in the basement started to buckle after eight months so I had to bring over two people from different hardwood floor companies to take a look and basically the flooring the basement was glued and nailed to the plywood underneath - there wasn't even a moisture sheet underneath the flooring. I have since had to pay $14,000 to have a proper hardwood company completely rip out and redo the flooring for me.
