Ultrasound
The treatment you receive in physical therapy will depend upon what the physical therapist finds in the evaluation. Our treatment programs are mechanically oriented with a non-dependent therapeutic approach. We emphasize mobilization, self-treatment, and therapeutic exercise to go right to the structure and resolve the problem. We do not stress "feel good" modalities, such as massage, ultrasound, heat, electrical stimulation, etc., which do little to address the underlying pathology and can cause patient dependence. We do utilize modalities as needed to assist us with anti-inflammatory effects, pain control etc.
MRI
5.0 star rating on 1/23/2014. The staff here is fantastic. I went last year and am just getting around to posting on them but they were truly great. Stacey was my PT and she did an incredible job on a shoulder that had been bothering/nagging me for a year. Docs couldn't quite figure out what it was and an MRI just turned up a "hot spot." I couldn't even get through a few push-ups on it though without something catching and the shoulder not allowing me the range of motion I needed. After a few sessions Stacey was able to work to the heart of it and found it to be a tendinitis at the point where the bicep connects to the shoulder. I was going in 2 times a week and after about 20 sessions I was completely pain free and doing full workouts on the shoulder again. I haven't had a problem since. Thanks to Stacey and the whole staff at Made to Move. They are all very friendly, helpful, and made the experience enjoyable.

Michele received her Bachelors in Health Science from Simmons College, Boston MA and continued on at Simmons College, receiving her Master of Science Physical Therapy degree in 2000. She earned national recognition as a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and as a Certified Hand Therapist in 2006. Michele has served as the Treasurer for the Long Beach/South Bay District of thPTe California Physical Therapy Association and as a member of the Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) as an item writer for the Orthopedic Speciality Exam. She is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), with special interest in hand therapy, orthopedics and sports physical therapy, as well as the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

SPECIALTY FORMS (IN ADDITION TO EITHER INTAKE OR RETURNING PACKET): If the patient is a minor, the authorization to treat a minor, in the NEW PATIENT PACKET, must also be filled out. Patients that are infants or toddlers, please also complete "Infant Child Medical History". Complete the "Back Questionnaire" for patients who are being treated for a back problem and/or sciatica, and "Neck Disability Questionnaire" for those patients who are being treated for a neck problem. HTC is a credential issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy signifying an Occupational Therapist has education and training in hand therapy to "practice safely". The therapist must have performed 480 hours of supervised hand therapy and have completed 45 hours of hand therapy continuing education. No minimum amount of experience or exam is required.

TMJ Dysfunction
The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are among some of the most frequently used joints in the body, allowing us to talk, chew, yawn, swallow and sneeze. The TMJ are located on each side of the skull. Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) is often overlooked. Some of the more common symptoms include clicking or popping with opening or closing of the mouth, pain around the jaw joints, locking of the jaw, headaches and an improper bite (teeth do not fit together properly).

General Podiatry
As of January 1, 2014, California law under AB1000 allows licensed physical therapists to provide direct physical therapy evaluation and treatment services for a period of up to 45 calendar days or 12 visits, whichever occurs first, after which time a physical therapist may continue providing you with physical therapy treatment services only after receiving, from a person holding a physician and surgeon’s certificate issued by the Medical Board of California or by the Osteopathic Medical Board of California, or from a person holding a certificate to practice podiatric medicine from the California Board of Podiatric Medicine and acting within his or her scope of practice, a dated signature on the physical therapist’s plan of care indicating approval of the physical therapist’s plan of care and that an in-person patient examination and evaluation was conducted by the physician and surgeon or podiatrist.

We offer evaluation, treatment and laboratory fabrication of custom foot orthotics for all ages. Our physical therapists have undergone specialized training and years of experience in gait biomechanics to evaluate the need for custom orthotics and fit the right orthotic to meet the specific needs of each patient. An orthotic device with specific components will be matched to meet the needs of the patient taking into account diagnosis, age, and activity level. If an orthotic is not necessary, you may receive counseling regarding your footwear, or the use of an over the counter insole.
