Overall

I am only going to cite facts and keep my opinion to myself. Rick, the owner of this company, came on Martin Luther King Day to fix my fireplace. He was punctual and arrived within the time window that they gave me in the morning. We talked a little bit about the fireplace and I told him that other technician came to see the fireplace and he said that it was the control gas valve. I also told him that I bought a brand new electric module online for $200, and that I replaced it. He told me that my fireplace was very old and that maybe it was better to buy a new one, but he agreed to repair it. He said that it was not the gas valve and he changed the electric module and the igniter. After he worked for 1 hour and 30 minutes, the fireplace started working. Rick broke my old igniter and he took the thermostat that was installed for safety on top of the gas fireplace without telling me. He charge me for the electric module $350 dollars, for the igniter $175, for labor $110, and taxes were $44.62. In total I paid $679.62. He left.
Three hours after he left, the fireplace started to fail. I called Colorado Home & Hearth several times and left messages each time. After three days of no returned calls, Tammy answered the phone and gave me another appointment for the next Monday. Because they only work until 3PM, I had to take a day off from work. The next Monday came, and I was waiting for them. The window for them to come was from 9 to 11, and no one showed up. I called numerous times and left messages. When Tammy finally answered, she told me that Rick was not going to come because he had already told me that my fireplace was “a piece of crap,” and that any additional repairs would cost $800.
I missed a day of work and paid nearly $700 for fireplace repairs that only worked for three hours. I do not expect a refund for the labor, but I believe it is reasonable to get my money back for the parts. Rick and Tammy have not answered my calls or letters.

Overall

AVOID this place at all cost! I also wish I had read the reviews before calling. This is an extremely shady business. After my service call, my fireplace never worked properly! I called repeatedly over a two month period, and after my fifth call finally received a call back. Tammy, the receptionist, was rude, said we had never tried to contact the company, nor had she received any messages! As such, due to the time lapse, it would cost another $110 for another service call. When I told her they should honor their service, she hung up on me. Why would anyone want to do business with a company that is unwilling to back up their work and treat their customers with so little respect.
