Pediatric Care
Academic experiences have included Clinical Assistant Professorship at University of Maryland Medical Center giving individual supervision and classroom presentations both as part of the curriculum to psychiatrists and behavioral pediatricians in training as well as at the American Academy of Pediatrics to practicing pediatricians.

Neurology
The training to receive triple board certifications in Pediatrics; Adult Psychiatry and Neurology; and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry began a wide range of experiences which has equipped me to continuously learn.
Autism
Some varied clinical experiences include supporting healthy attachments in foster care and through foster care and private adoptions; as well as working in school systems to address developmental, educational, and social difficulties in average classrooms, private school settings, and in dedicated special education schools. My work has been with young people of all ages with learning differences, ADHD, autism, situational stress including physical illness and medical procedures, significant trauma and neglect, mood dysfunction including depression and bipolar disorders, and a wide variety of anxieties; with mild to severe difficulties in all these areas.

The Medical Degree was obtained from the University of Maryland in 1983. An opportunity to start training in psychiatry from the beginning of medical school through a special program called "Caps" offered the chance to begin treating patients with individual psychotherapy while being closely supervised by the Psychiatry faculty. This level of experience is unusual so early: it is usually only provided once medical school is finished and psychiatry residency begun. I was lucky to have both the small group of my fellow trainees and the skilled and compassionate supervisors in this intensive training so early; and lucky to be at a school where this program was developed.

During Psychiatry training, I chose to add weekly trainings and see young patients in the Center for Infant Study when Dr. Taghi Moderessi was the director. Later I also added a 6 month elective at the Reginald Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children in Rockville which exposed me to sensory integration treatment for severe regulatory disorders, along with close collaboration with related providers in speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy. The many skilled and exceptional staff became my mentors and many became my friends.
