As general surgeons, they treat a broad range of illnesses. Through their extensive endoscopic practice, they diagnose and treat GI and colon diseases that would alternatively have been seen by a gastroenterologist. The doctors do more than 900 colonoscopies a year, both for diagnosis and removal of polyps, and for routine American Cancer Society-recommended screening. They have been performing laparoscopic gallbladder surgery since 1990, averaging more than 250 cases a year. One of the busiest parts of their practice is the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Image-guided biopsies, breast conservation surgery, mammosite placement, sentinel lymph node biopsy, chemotherapy vascular access – these are all common procedures in their breast practice. All three doctors are members of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, dedicated to quality, current Breast Cancer care. No other surgeons in Southeast Alabama are presently American Society of Breast Surgeon fellows.
