Dr. Zimm is a board-certified ophthalmologist (eye doctor and surgeon). In addition to medical school and his ophthalmology residency, Dr. Zimm is fellowship trained in advanced cataract and refractive surgery at Michigan State University.

Cataract Surgery
ZCLC has expanded in recent years with the addition of two licensed optometrists, hiring Dr. Jessica Goller in 2019 and Dr. Krystal Fordoski in 2022. Both Optometrists (eye doctors) assist Dr. Zimm by providing medical and routine eye examinations for our patients. This allows Dr. Zimm to focus on treating complex eye problems and cataract surgery.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetes increases the risk of developing diabetic retinopathy, which is characterized by weak blood vessels in the eyes that leak or protrude into the retina. The proliferation of blood vessels on the retina itself, as a result of these blood vessels closing off over time, can result in eyesight problems.

Ultrasound
A cataract is removed through a process called Phacoemulsification. Your surgeon creates a small incision in your cornea then inserts a pen-shaped probe through that opening. The probe applies sound waves (ultrasound) to break up the cloudy lens. Next, the surgeon aspirates out the broken-up pieces and then inserts an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) implant.
Radiation Therapy
Eyelid cancer needs to be correctly diagnosed and treated with oculoplastic surgery and/or radiation therapy, depending on individual circumstances.
