The Washington State Deptartment of Labor and Industries focuses on the safety, health and security of more than 3 million workers in the state. The department is operated by the government of Washington State. It inspects workplaces and helps employers to meet safety and health standards. The department administers the state's workers' compensation system. The Washington State Deptartment of Labor and Industries offers a range of coverage plans for individuals suffering from job-related injuries and illnesses. The department has more than 15 offices throughout Washington and employs a staff of over 2,700 people. Its division of occupational safety and health administers the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) law. The Washington State Deptartment of Labor and Industries also provides medical care and financial assistance services for injured workers.
