Tooth decay is caused by acid that is created by the bacteria on your teeth. When the decay reaches the layer past the outer enamel of the tooth, the decayed part must be removed to prevent the decay from progressing. Dental fillings are used to fill the void in the tooth after the decayed portion has been removed. Silver amalgam fillings were once the most common type. However, advances in composite resin technology have allowed this material to be used as an alternative option. Composite fillings are designed to match the color of your teeth. These tooth-colored fillings using a bonding agent to chemically bond the filling to the tooth. They are placed in the tooth in layers and require a curing light that is used to harden the material.

Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of ceramic that cover the front side of teeth to hide stains, chips, decay, or irregularities. Veneers require the removal of a small amount of enamel on the front and edge of teeth to make space for the ceramic and keep them from looking bulky and over contoured. It is recommended to avoid food and drinks that stain the margins of veneers.
Crowns
A bridge can solve the issue of missing teeth. A bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis that has crowns on either end that act as anchors. The anchor crowns are connected by the replacement missing tooth. The entire prosthesis, anchor crowns and replacement tooth, goes into place at the same time as one piece. A bridge requires the missing tooth to have teeth on either side. Bridges can be utilized for front teeth or back teeth and can be made from a variety of materials.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is a procedure used to save a tooth that has had an infection that has reached the nerve. Although normal tooth decay can become increasingly worse and eventually lead to a root canal, often trauma can cause the tooth to die as well. In a root canal, the dentist removes the dead nerve from the tooth, cleans the tooth out on the inside, and seals it off to prevent another infection or abscess from forming around the tooth. If the nerve and all the infection is not removed the bacterial continues to move deeper down the root and into the bone, often causing swelling, pain, and discomfort that worsens with time.

Dentures
Dentures are removable prosthetics that replace all or a portion of your teeth. At our office, we make both complete dentures (for when all teeth are missing) and partial dentures (for when some teeth are missing). Dentures rely on contact with the gum tissues beneath them for support and retention. If you currently have teeth, and are thinking about getting dentures, there are normally two routes to go. The first, conventional dentures, are made after the teeth have been removed and are placed after 8 to 12 weeks of healing time. The second, immediate dentures, are made before the teeth come out, and can be placed as soon as the teeth are removed. Immediate dentures require a relining of the inner surface after the healing period, as the tissues change shape while they heal. Not all dentures are made the same way. We use only the highest quality denture teeth, and never cut corners to provide patients with removable prosthetics that they can feel confident while wearing.
Overdentures
In the past few decades, the addition of dental implants to denture treatments have greatly increased the stability and retention of these removable prosthetics. An overdenture is a removable denture that snaps onto implants that have been placed in the bone to serve as anchors. These dentures still must cover the gums to have proper function and must be taken out and cleaned daily. However, they give the denture wearer a feeling of confidence in the fit of their denture that can be difficult to impossible to attain with conventional dentures.
