- Back in 1985, Robert Wilson opened a pet store and named it after his beloved uncle, offering puppies and kittens for sale to local customers. Decades later, we are still family owned and deeply rooted in the central Indiana community. When most local residents think of where to find a new pet, Uncle Bill's Pet Center comes to mind. Lots of our customers grew up enjoying visits to our pet store, looking for puppies or kittens or a new fish for the aquarium, or just to enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of the Indianapolis area's favorite pet store.Today, we still foster that family feeling in each of our six central Indiana locations. Even though some of our customers come from as far away as Chicago and Cincinnati to take advantage of our unmatched selection and quality, we love to build relationships and strive to make each of our stores a happy and uplifting place to visit. Come visit Uncle Bill's Pet Center and see the difference for yourself!

Best place to purchase a dog.
We just purchased a dog week ago Sunday and our family is loving it so far.
PLEASE READ: This store absolutely DOES get its pets from puppy mills. NO QUESTION! I went to the store and asked all the questions one should ask to determine where the dog/cat they are buying is coming from (though I don't believe in buying dogs from pet stores!). I was not interested in buying (they didn't know this), but when I went in for pet supplies and noticed the puppies, I felt compelled to find out. Here is what EVERYONE thinking about BUYING a dog should know (Uncle Bills FAILED all of these!):
*When you ask from where your dog came, you should be supplied with the breeder's name, address and phone number. The breeder should be within an hour's drive of the store (any further is a hint that many were shipped at once. No reputable breeder would put the time and money into taking their dog to a far away store. Really, no reputable breeder would put their dog in a pet store anywhere for any reason).
*Call the number. Talk to the breeder (another hint: if you get a message and no return call...bad sign). They can lie about anything...so your FIRST question should be "I'd like to see where my dog was born, and I'd like to see his parents. When can I visit?" If they refuse to allow you to do so, or are vague, or dismissive...RUN! A reputable breeder would welcome you. There is NO reason why they would not...NONE.
*VISIT the breeder. If the breeder does welcome you...GO! They could be calling your bluff. Get at an address and drive there. Chances are, it's bogus, or what you will find will be horrific.
*If after doing all this, everything checks out...call a local, trusted vet. Ask them about their history with pets from that pet store. Vets will be honest.
Uncle Bills initially dodged my questions. Then they said they weren't "at liberty" to provide the breeder's info, but would contact them, and have them call me (huh?). Then the gave a phone number, where a left a message. It's been days...never got a call back.
Lastly, according to my vet, she sees ILL dogs from this store often...kennel cough, parasites, intestinal issues...and on and on.
DO NOT BUY ANY ANIMALS FROM THIS STORE...NONE! Not just dogs...ANY animal here was most likely inhumanely raised.
Puppy mills are HORRIFIC, CRUEL and HORRID places! Stop buying from pet store, and you STOP the puppy mills!

They sold me a mini pig that was itching the day I brought him home. Exactly one week later, he's starting a course of mange treatments. I should have read these reviews before buying from a lousy pet store.

No stars. Third bad experience here... Fish people know little about fish, they told me I could put fish together, one are the other, then they refused a refund.
Saturday we bought a chameleon cage, misplaced the receipt, and they they wouldn't allow the money back, despite being a "preferred member" (must mean I am first in line to get screwed), the box being unopened, and my offer to present my bank statement. Normally I wouldn't care, but it was $165.
Maybe the sign out front should say Uncle - Greedy, Nasty, Don't Care About the Customer - Bill. I will never shop there again, and I would and will recommend to everyone to do the same.
Between the rudeness and incivility of the management and the fact that the employees have no real knowledge of the animals they sell, I can't see any reason to shop here.

My boyfriend and I just bought a puppy not even a week ago from one of your stores, today he had a seizure we think and after that he started having a jekyll and hyde attitude, we went to a different vet than noah's because we don't live close to one and the vet said he hasn't seen anything like that before. He bit my boyfriend in the face and left a nice sized gash, he may need stitches. My boyfriends been talking through a middle man while trying to talk to someone from corporate. They wouldn't give us their number because they had just went home for the day. Telling us to drive our pup down to their 24 hour vet to wait, mind you we live in anderson so this is a far drive and see if they will put him down or not. We don't want that but we also don't want him to attack someone and hurt them down the line seeing as he is a Siberian Husky and will be big. We are livid, this is emotionally very hard and to know that we wasted almost 2,000$ on a puppy to have for not even a week and may not even get our money back is ridiculous. I will not ever return to Uncle Bill's. I would recommend not to go there or to buy a pup or any other animals.

We had been to Uncle Bill's dozens of times for my husband to buy fish while I played with the puppies. We played with one of the "discount puppies" for about an hour, and fell in love. We decided to purchase him (for being discount, he was still priced more than $300 over what his breed typically sells for). We took him home, and started to notice he had a cough. We took him to the vet recommended by Uncle Bill's the following day. He had kennel cough, which we were told was common for puppies and dogs in that environment. He was given a round of antibiotics. We called Uncle Bill's to tell them, and their response, "Yea, most of the puppies here have kennel cough." Two weeks later, he was not better. So we went back to the vet... another round of antibiotics. About a week later, no improvement, so they changed the antibiotic. Two months to the day after getting him, he still had this cough and it was getting worse. We went back to the vet........ a new antibiotic and a chest x-ray. We got the call yesterday that he has severe bronchitis and a partially collapsed lung now. All of this because Uncle Bill's does not treat their puppies when they show symptoms. I understand kennel cough is very contagious, but I have an issue with them not treating the pups knowing they are sick. So glad our boy is rescued from that place, but so sad for all the other pups there.

I will never go to this place again. I purchased a Golden Retriever puppy from them and he has been sick since day 1!!! They claimed they were selling us a healthy puppy. One prop I will give to them is that they have paid for his vet bills, as they should. It is just one sickness after another!! First giardia, then a UTI, now it's Coccidia. It seems to be a never ending cycle. Yes, they are paying the vet bills, but what about gas to drive to THEIR vet 30 minutes away, and the time I have to take to leave work to take my puppy there. As far as I'm concerned they should be bending over backwards to please us, since this would be our second time buying a puppy from them. Clearly their customers have no value to them.

We bought an expensive fish there ($48) which died within a week. They will not guarantee it. I will be going elsewhere from now on.

Where to begin.... A month ago I bought a gorgeous tank setup from uncle steals. At first things were going well until I bought another fish from he same salesperson that always 'helps' me. I brought the fish home only to find out it was not a community fish. The sucker ate all of my 3 year old son's fish. Try explaining that to a heartbroken little boy. I will never trust their expert advice again.
