        The Genesee County Probation Office is a part of the Michigan Department of Corrections, which is administered by the State of Michigan. The department provides training, education and programming solutions for incarcerated felons. It works with local jurisdictions on the development of a range of correctional sanctions. The Michigan Department of Corrections offers a selection of academic, vocational, work, recreational and religious programs for male and female offenders. The department s county jail reimbursement program provides financial incentives to local government for granting local sanctions for violent, assaultive and repeat offenders. It uses video conferencing services for witness testimony, administrative meetings, and parole and misconduct hearings.
