My package is stuck here since last night and it should have gone to the facility in fox valley and that is less than 4 hours from Chicago

Unfortunately there are no negative stars. You see, I live in SD. That means a lot of packages from the Eastcoast come through the Forest Park IL facility according the the tracking information. It is guaranteed that anytime a package hits Forest Park , it WILL BE DELAY at least 4 days. I'm not sure if this is par for the course, but it has been 100% for me.

The great thing about federal jobs is you basically have to kill a bus full of nuns to get terminated. You can be incompetent and negligent and fit in just fine to get your merit promotions. Forest Park must be one of those iconic federal (supposedly privatized) USPS facilities.

I don't have experience with individual retail post offices in Forest Park, IL; however, this negative review is only about the Forest Park, IL Sort Facility, not Forest Park retail post office(s). First Class parcels are outrageously slow (4 to 6 calendar days is not uncommon) to go through this sort facility.

This facility also frequently sends many packages in the wrong direction. It appears that sometimes entire containers of mail that were given together to my local post office (not just isolated mis-sorts), go in the wrong direction, when they come out of Forest Park. It's so bad, that I can't help but to suspect sabotage at Forest Park, by mischievious or disgruntled USPS employees.

Another big problem is that they're processing days of mail out of order
(last-in/first-out), and that, I believe, is why some days of mail sit there in Forest Park, IL
for up to 4 business days (6 calendar days) until they get around to it.

I ship almost 8,000 First Class packages per year that go through this place. I never had any major problems with them prior to November 2013; however, from December, 2013 up to the present, the delays and errors continue, and have been unbearable. I often spend hours per day, responding to angry customers.
At first I thought it was just weather delays from the awful winter we just had. But, no. The problems are still consistent, week in and week out, regardless of weather.
It is now May, 2014, and this is the 6th consecutive month of continual delays and
excessive mail mis-sorts at the Forest Park, IL USPS Sort Facility.

The worst day to mail First Class packages (for me) is Wednesday. It's common for
them to process Thursday's mail (in 12-36 hours), then Friday's (12-24 hrs later), then Saturday's, (on Sunday), then the PREVIOUS Wednesday mailings, get processed AFTER that. That's why Wednesday's mail can sit there unprocessed and not get touched until the following week .... because trackings show that more recent days of mail were all processed ahead of it!

I complained to USPS management at USPS.gov (by email) over a month ago,
but they've never responded. It appears that nobody cares. Not even a "thanks, we're looking into it" reply. I've tried mailing from different western suburban post offices (and from Chicago, IL 60666 at O'Hare Field) attempting to avoid Forest Park, but to no avail . . . my First Class parcels still go through that awful place. It's no wonder that USPS is losing money. I'm seriously thinking of moving all of
my shipping business over to FedEx. Will cost a little more, but worth the stress reduction.

Like a previous commenter here, if I could give negative stars to the USPS Forest Park, IL,
Sort Facility, I would.

My 2-Day Priority envelope was sent from Eau Claire WI on 03/05/2015, which bounced around and
in limbo at the Forest Park IL facility since 03/10/15. I made 4-calls to USPS Cust Serv (#1-800-275-8777) with no resolution; also called USPS Consumer Affairs (#708-563-7756) and was told the mail sorting at this facility is backed-up because of bad weather. Not sure how that should affect my pkg stuck at their facility going to Sussex WI. They are clueless that my pkg should not have been routed to that facility in the first place. Online tracking info is unreliable and just plain false. This facility needs a serious overhaul in every aspect of customer service but we all know that won't happen. I filed a claim with USPS on 03/17/2015 and then FINALLY, my 2-Day Priority envelope was delivered 03/20/2015. Never again will I use USPS Priority Mail. I will spend the extra $$$ and send via Fed-Ex or UPS!!! Unable to give them a ZERO-rating, which is accurate.

This postal sorting center needs oversight! This is total BS. I've been selling online for 10 years. This place has always caused delays, but since around the holidays of 2013 things really hit the fan! Then come Spring 2015, and things just flat out broke down. Seems like 3/4th of my packages are no getting sent out to opposite parts of the country, or just lost for days.

I mail anywhere from 5-15 packages daily. Since spring started the packages going here have just dropped off the tracking. 3,4,5,6 days later they reappear with being scanned, ready for delivery at their destination. No tracking in between going into this facility, and their final destination.

OR even worst, my packages get misshipped to other parts of the country. Causing delays.

My customers are blaming me! I'm getting an ear full from them.

I called the 1-800 number and either I get put on an indefinate wait, and then USPS hangs up on me! OR... if I am lucky and get a live person, they take down my contact information, and tell me someone will call me back. 2-3 days later no one calls, I recall the 1-800 # and they tell me theres nothing more they can do.

So I file a complaint about this facility online at us USPS website. Write down all my information, including the tracking numbers - plural numbers - multiple packages missing.
Next day I get a return email, please provide the tracking numbers you need help with. I DID ALREADY when I filed the complaint. Well I replay to the email with all the tracking numbers. 1-2 days later, I get another email response, we have not received the tracking numbers you are contacting us about, please provide the tracking number so we can help you.

Its like Catch 22 - no way to win with these buffoons. Can't get help with the 1-800 #, no one calls you back, they cant help you when you call them. No help filing an online complaint, they never get any of the information you type in.

This facility is getting worst! Its to the point that I'm contemplating suspending my online business until they get their act together. I cant ship and have my customers wait 10-14 days to get a package that normally takes 4-5 days tops!

I rather stab myself in the eye than order an item on amazon that ships through this facility! Hire better staff or make them do their job!

It's 2015! Fast service is everything! The postal service in the 1920s was probably faster than this place.

Mailed a padded envelope with a card in it from Merrillville,IN on Sept. 27. It was sent to this facility on the 28th. No movement as of October 5th. When i called my local post office, I was told "ohhhh - its in Forest Park - you"ll need to be patient". If all the reviews are negative AND the USPS knows its bad, why is there no effort to make things better?

as a buyer i usually expect packages in a decent timely manner. especially when the seller is not far from me. i have a package sitting at IL postoffice for almost 3 days now. when a package doesnt get a scan in three days makes me believe my package is now lost.
