El Monte Bar & Grill

...as in good for lifting your spirits. I went here for an early dinner w/a friend who has just been laid off from her job, hoping to cheer her up. Nothing like a really well made marg and some AWESOME queso fundido (like a cheese fondue/dip thing) to make a person feel better about life. We shared one of the cazuelas (Latin stew/soup - more really good comfort food) and a couple of salads. Everything was great - and unlike a lot of places I've been to lately, I think the cooks really care. Maybe cause they're new. The waiter was totally professional and sensitive when we just wanted to talk, but brought the margs and appetizers super quick. The atmosphere is relaxing and energizing at the same time - does that sound contradictory? Don't know how to describe it. Anyway, it was a great choice. I'll definitely be back.
