Specialties: dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, exotics Biography: Dr. Javier Gonzalez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. As a young kid, Dr. Gonzalez always dreamed of one day becoming a veterinarian. He did so in 2004. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL in 2000. He then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, a small island in the Caribbean and completed his senior year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from vet school in January of 2004, Dr. Gonzalez moved to New York and practiced veterinary medicine in Long Island. After living and working there for a year, he decided to move back to the Sunshine State after long winter days convinced him that New York was not the Empire State for him. Dr. Gonzalez practiced at a local animal hospital for the last 7 years and has now opened his new veterinary center in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Gonzalez enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, but has a special interest in preventive medicine. He shares his life with his life partner as well as Charlie (miniature schnauzer), Bentley (shih-poo), Kiki (cat), Lola (cat), Bobbi (Goffin's cockatoo) and Sophia (blue Quaker parakeet) and many fish tanks. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, the theater and movies, swimming, bike riding and keeping a healthy lifestyle (except for sweets and diet cola). My young lab mix loves going to Dr. Gonzalez! Clean office, friendly staff. I have brought her here a few times. Once was unfortunately for a severe allergic reaction. The staff took great care of her & even gave us their personal number in case we had problems after hours. I had a few lingering questions the next day and it was easy to talk to the doctor personally when I called the office. He spent another 15 minutes explaining things to me. Even for the emergency visit, the total was approximately $80 for everything (exam, shots, meds). Of course, prices for medications are more expensive than what you can get online, but they very similar to other vet offices. I highly recommend this practice.
I have 2 dogs that I have been taking to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Center for almost 2 years now. First: the hospital itself is very nice, very clean, smells good, and beautifully designed. Second: the staff is always welcoming and very knowledgable. When I come in me and my dogs are always greeted with a warm smile and my dogs loves the attention. Third: the doctor is unlike any other. Dr. Gonzalez knows exactly what he's doing and is not in the business of doing things that are unnecessary. Everything from cost to the procedure is expressly laid out for me so i can truly make an informed decision. Dr. Gonzalez treats my pets as if they were his own and truly makes me feel so comfortable when they are in his care. Fort Lauderdale is lucky to have such a great vet in the area and I encourage everyone who loves their pets to bring them to a place where they'll be love just as much.

Great vet and great staff!! We will use them every time we are in the area! They went out of their way to handle the anxiety of our rescue dog to make him comfortable while we did some traveling. Great job!! I just recommended you to some other contacts!
Truly outstanding experience every single time we have gone. My little boxer Charlye drags me from our car into his office doors she is so excited every time we go. Javier is uniquely good at what he does!
We love Dr. Javier and his team! First class care. The care is very personalized. I have sent him pictures in a text message when I think something is just not right with one of our two four legged kids and he responds back immediately-most often than not letting me know all is okay and no reason to come in. Who does that in this day and age! Any other Vet would want you to come in to charge you for an office visit. You never feel like a number. It's about the best care and fair costs. Dr. Javier and his team give back supporting and raising funds and awareness for many animal charities and doing his part to at in charge take care of animals in need. We have two Golden's and Dr. Javier has been our family pet doctor for 8 years.
The most wonderful place for all critters.. Loving caring and accurate with the care!!
All I can say is WOW.. They took care of my cat and dog while I was on a cruise.. They were so well cared for and actually wanted to stay .. A great place .
