Construction Litigation
Founded in 1965, Smith Currie was one of the first law firms in the country to work extensively with the construction industry. Overton Currie spoke on construction law at hundreds of local, regional, and national trade association events. In 1971, Overton was elected Chair of the ABA’s Section of Public Contract Law. Some years later, Overton joined fellow national practitioners to found the American College of Construction Lawyers and served as the College’s first president. Subsequent generations of Smith Currie lawyers have continued Overton’s leadership. In 1983, Tom Abernathy was elected Chair of the Public Contract Law Section. During 1991, Luther House served as Chair of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. In 2003, Hugh Bell became the third Smith Currie lawyer to be elected Chair of the Public Contract Law Section.

Foreclosure
Our attorneys are also experienced in the prosecution and defense of construction lien and bond claims. We assist our client with preparation of construction lien and bond claims, and we regularly file lien foreclosure lawsuits in Miami-Dade County to pursue payment for our clients.
