Jeffrey Lukish, M.D., is a 1987 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He completed general surgery training at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and a pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center. As a staff pediatric surgeon, he was assigned to Walter Reed National Medical Center where he became the Chief of Pediatric Surgery in 2005, a position he held until his retirement in 2010. He currently holds academic appointments as an adjunct associate professor of surgery from the Uniformed Services University, the George Washington University, and Johns Hopkins University. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and member of several prominent professional societies, including the American Pediatric Surgical Society American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Cancer Oncology Group. Dr. Lukish has authored over 100 publications. He is a nationally recognized expert in advanced minimally invasive surgery in infants and children, as well as pediatric surgical innovation. Dr. Lukish has received numerous clinical and research awards including the Washington D.C. Academy of Surgery Award for clinical and basic science research, the Children’s Research Institute award for scientific and academic achievement, the Harry B. Zehner Traveling Fellowship Award from the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Pediatric Research basic science research award. Most recently Dr. Lukish was awarded the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society Clinical Faculty of the Year. He has been voted a Baltimore Top Doctor by his peers for five of the last eight years. Dr. Lukish is focused on providing outstanding, timely and effective care to children who require pediatric surgical intervention. His wife Donna and their six children reside in Lutherville, Maryland. He is an avid Little League football, baseball and basketball coach in the community.
