Overall

i agree with chargerguy. I have taken my car here as well. These are really good mechanics with integrity. I had an urgent unexpected issue that they figured out and resolved promptly to keep me on the road. Even as I was a stranger, interrupting their involvement with other repairs, they didn't act put out, and they didn't charge me. They suggested changing out the plugs and wires which was part of the issue, and scheduled me for that the next week. The bill for this was very fair, and didn't show any sign of compensating for the earlier time. This was my first experience with them. Trustworthy and decent men.

i disagree with previous review

I must say that I strongly disagree with the previous writers review. I have taken a number of vehicles to Jim at Carlton Center and have found him to be knowledgeable, friendly and most of all, HONEST!!! This is a rare find in auto repair shops these days and invaluable. Don't know what the problem was with the previos reviewer, but I have had nothing but great service at a reasonable price from the folks at Carlton Center. I value them greatly.

NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!...

NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! We brought in our car for noisy front bearings. As soon as we got it back (before we left the lot) the speedometer quit working, the ABS brakes weren't working and three dash lights were on (Brake, ABS and check engine). We had to bring it back 4 different times and received a different story each time. First, we had to bring it in so they could "take a better look at it". That visit resulted in a story related to a speed sensor, supposed "easy fix" and "bring back Monday". So we brought it back a second time. This visit he claimed he drove it to all his "friend's shops" and couldn't get a good reading from the computer. He SWORE it was either the front-left or front-right speed sensor...he didnt' know which one, but was sure it was the front. He said he knew a guy who could read the codes (said it was "user error on his part") and to bring it back next Monday. So we bring it in yet again and he claims his friend read the code and it's not the front at all, but it's BOTH REAR wheels and he won't know until he can tear into the rear...but it's either bad wiring, corosion or it's disconnected. He also states that we must pay for all of the work...says he spent $40 to have the guy hook it up to the computer. I didn't even feel like arguing with this jerk that I lost much more money than that in lost wages from leaving early/getting to work late to get the car into him so many times. This place may be cheaper than any other shop around, but there's a reason for that...HE SUCKS AND DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS. Come to think of it, my neigher (who refered me to him) is always telling me how he has to keep taking his car into the same shop to get worked on. And this morning, when I dropped off my car for the last time, my neighbor's car was sitting there once again. Perhaps getting folks to keep bringing back their cars after initial repairs is this guy's "MO"...bad business plan if you ask me. I will GLADLY PAY TRIPLE THE COST TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE BY THE DEALER. Needless to say, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
