Michigan Art Center

I have taken classes at community colleges and another studio. This is the most wonderful experience. You have direction, support, freedom, resources, and nice, friendly, knowledgable, and professional instructors, and staff. My skills have grown and I have made new friends. It truly is a community art center. A real treasure.

I've worked at two other studios and have found the MAC to be the best managed, most friendly and accommodating. Students are free to watch demo's or pursue their own projects. I have stopped work to watch demos I was not particularly interested in and ended up learning something new. The atmosphere is always relaxed and there is a free sharing of ideas. I always leave tired and happy. The MAC is growing and evolving and I'm happy to be a part of it.

I’ve been taking classes at the MAC for about a year and a half. All the instructors that I have worked with have been knowledgeable, patient, helpful and supportive. The environment at the MAC is conducive to learning and artistic expression. After learning the basics, you have the freedom to do your own thing (wheel throwing, slab building, sculpture, etc.) or follow along with one of the projects being demonstrated by the instructor.

I’ve taken a few of the hands-on workshops offered at the MAC where a professional potter demonstrates and teaches his/her techniques. From an artistic standpoint the experience was awesome. I’ve produced pieces that I never thought I had the ability to create

If you’ve thought about taking a class I would recommend checking out the MAC and observing the pieces that are in the process of being created by the students. You’d be amazed.
