Test Prep and Tutoring

My daughter worked with Diana Smith from Test Prep and Tutoring to help her get ready for the SAT. Jenni was a wreck, and getting her to agree to tutoring was like pulling teeth. Initially there were assessments and scores so Jenni had to talk about her weaknesses, which she is very sensitive about. She used to be on an IEP in her public school, but when she transferred to her private high school, she did not continue with an IEP. She thought it was humiliating. Well, Ms. Smith didn't know any of this, but she took the time to talk to me, and to read through Jenni's assessment results, and ask Jenni some questions. She knew Jenni struggled with reading. And she knew writing was difficult for her. Ms. Smith had previously been a special education supervisor, so she knew all about IEP's-she's written hundreds! But she never said anything about that to Jenni. She just made her feel like she could improve as much as she wanted to. And once the classes started, I could hear Jenni laughing. It was a great sound! But it wasn't all fun and games; Jenni showed me some of the homework assignments and materials she had to practice with, and it was tough. She still has a few weeks left with Test Prep and Tutoring, and she may book a few sessions with the math tutor they have, but she's good at math. I think she just wants to keep hanging out with Ms. Smith. You can tell she's worked with teenagers for a long time!! I would recommend her, and I would definitely recommend Test Prep and Tutoring-I got the personalized attention I wanted for my child, and a funny, creative and excellent teacher in Diana Smith.
