Dr. Monhian treated me for a serious dog bite wound on my face. A piece of skin was hanging like a flap. The good doctor was available at a moment's notice to perform a delicate cleaning and surgery. He followed through with a regimin of antibiotics and scar reduction. I expected to have a very visible scar, however I am delighted to report that no one notices it unless I point it out. Ear Surgery
Cosmetic ear surgery, or otoplasty, is a procedure designed to reduce the prominence or the size of the ears. It is commonly performed on children before school age to avoid any psychological trauma they may encounter due to the shape of their ears. Another large group of clients requesting this surgery are young adults who decide for themselves to correct the shape of their ears. Like many other aesthetic procedures, performing this procedure requires precise evaluation and diagnosis as to the cause of the problem, and an artistic vision to create a natural-looking result. Dr. Monhian has great interest in preserving natural tissue as much as possible, thus minimizing cartilage resection, and instead reshaping the cartilage using suture techniques. Most adults can have this procedure performed without general anesthesia; this further minimizes the risk involved with the procedure.

Reconstructive Surgery
An Ivy-league graduate, Dr. Monhian received his Medical Degree from Cornell University and completed his Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Training at the University of California, San Francisco and the University of Michigan. Plastic Surgeons

Botox
Botox® is a neuromodulator that works by weakening the muscles of facial expression which insert on the under surface of the facial skin. Once the resting tone of these muscles is weakened, the pull of the muscles relaxes and the skin flattens out. This is an entirely different approach to treating the aging face. Collagen and fat injections, as well as other filler materials currently in use, work by filling in a wrinkle. These fillers are not as effective as Botox® in removing wrinkles in the upper third of the face. By physiologically weakening the muscles, the wrinkles are removed naturally.
Brow Lift
Brow lift technique has undergone significant evolution over the past two decades. Dr. Monhian has special expertise in the advanced, minimally invasive technique of endoscopic brow lift. There are, however, other types of techniques with different placement of the incisions which may be appropriate for certain individuals. Dr. Monhian will determine the best technique for you during your consultation.
Eyelid Surgery
During upper eyelid surgery, the surgeon trims away any excess skin that is obstructing vision or contributing to a droopy or tired appearance. The remaining skin is lifted and reattached for a more youthful look. The goal of upper eyelid surgery is to leave the patient looking refreshed, and most experienced surgeons are able to avoid the unnatural “wide awake” look that comes from overcorrection.

Rhinoplasty
Candidates for nose reshaping come in two categories: those who seek a rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons, and those who need one to allow their noses to function naturally. A cosmetic nose job — most rhinoplasty surgeries fall into this classification — is a good choice for anyone who finds the shape of their nose unpleasing to look at in some significant way: too large, too small, too bent, too hooked, or anything else. Just small changes in the shape and position of the nose can create wonderful aesthetic benefits for the patient. For those who have had a broken nose or who were born with nostrils too narrow for normal breathing, a rhinoplasty may allow a doctor to restore natural nose function. Most rhinoplasty specialists can perform the procedure on all types of patients.
Plastic Surgery
Microneedling isn’t invasive like plastic surgery, so the recovery time is minimal. Most people require very little downtime, if any at all.
Face Lift
Chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution, usually an acid, is used to improve the texture and appearance of facial skin by removing its damaged, superficial layer. Typically administered as a facial peel, it is useful for individuals with fine wrinkles, facial blemishes, and uneven pigmentation. Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and Phenol are the most commonly used chemicals for this purpose. The selection of the chemical, and its precise formula used, may be adjusted to meet each patient’s needs. Chemical peel is not a substitute for a facelift, although it may be performed in conjunction with facial rejuvenation surgery. Of course, neither procedure will prevent or slow the aging process.
Neck Lift
Rhytidectomy can be an effective way to improve appearance and boost self-confidence, but it is not for everyone. Patients whose skin is still relatively supple, and who are in good overall health, achieve the best results. Some patients might find that they can attain their goals with a less invasive procedure, such as a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. Others may be happier with their results if they combine face lift surgery with other procedures, such as a neck lift or forehead lift (also called “brow lift”). Patients who understand both the possibilities of a face lift and its limitations tend to be more pleased with their results. Blepharoplasty
Botox® is utilized to enhance your appearance and is not to take the place of standard facial plastic surgical procedures such as face lifting, blepharoplasty and chemical peeling. It has the ability to improve areas that are not addressed by these operations and is an effective adjuvant to these operations. When the effects of Botox® start to wear off, you will notice a return of your wrinkles. Frequently, when they return they are not as deep. At that time, you may want to have the area re-injected. It takes two or three injections a year to maintain the appearance you will achieve from Botox®.

Scar Revision
With advances in the knowledge of wound healing, as well as the development of better materials and techniques, many options have become available in the treatment of patients with unsightly scars. Nevertheless, no technique has been devised to allow total and permanent removal or effacement of scars. The goal of scar revision is to replace one scar for another to improve the appearance and the acceptability of the scar.
