Dental Examination

X-rays
High-resolution dental X-rays provide a more comprehensive picture than traditional x-rays and can offer important information related to your child’s teeth and underlying jawbone.

Teeth Cleaning
Even with a proper at-home dental regime, routine cleanings and digital X-rays are still vital. We’re happy to explain the significance of dental cleanings, digital X-rays, and anything else you have questions about.
Fluoride Treatment
We offer several preventive services aimed at just that—stopping dental decay. Dental sealants and fluoride can be applied during one of your child’s routine cleanings and take no more than five minutes to apply, but they offer invaluable protection against cavities.
Dental Sealants
Sealants place a thin white layer over the surface of teeth, blocking out bacteria and filling in small fissures that may collect food. The result is healthier teeth that are far less likely to suffer from cavities or decay. Dental sealants are 100% safe and last several years.

Root Canal Treatment
Our office offers several types of dental crowns to protect teeth from infection and to improve smiles. Crowns can guard a weak tooth after a root canal and restore damaged teeth. Our crowns are made of stainless-steel metal or zirconia, but both will function like a natural tooth.

Oral Surgery
From routine checkups to braces, and oral surgery, the pediatric dentist and orthodontics team can handle every aspect of your child’s oral health in the office. Jaw Surgery
This orthognathic surgery can be the right orthodontic treatment for many alignment issues, as well as treating facial injuries.
Maxillofacial Surgery
Lower jaw surgery is a maxillofacial surgery that is performed to correct a lower jaw that either caves inward or juts outward. Like upper jaw surgery, an oral surgeon will make an incision behind the molars and through the bone below the teeth to realign the jaw itself.
Tooth Extractions
Baby tooth extraction can be necessary if a baby tooth is decayed, damaged or broken. Sometimes we recommend baby tooth removal just in order to maintain proper alignment if a certain tooth is not falling out naturally on schedule, or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. Baby tooth removal usually requires only a light oral sedation and can be done in-office. Healing time is minimal and your child should be back to their normal activities in 48 hours.

Orthodontics
Born and raised in Burlington, NC, Dr. Touloupas is excited and honored to serve the Piedmont Triad community. He received his undergraduate degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with highest distinction and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Touloupas remained in Chapel Hill to attend the UNC School of Dentistry for his dental education. During dental school, he served as President of the Barakat Student Ambassadors and was selected as a teaching assistant for several dental courses. Following his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. Touloupas moved to San Antonio, Texas for his orthodontic residency. He received extensive training in orthodontic treatment, including growth and development, biomechanics, clear aligner therapy, surgical orthodontics, and interdisciplinary dental treatment. During his final year, he served as Chief Resident for his program. Dr. Touloupas earned his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Invisalign Orthodontics
One of the key advantages of Invisalign Teen is that the aligners can be easily removed. Removing Invisalign for eating allows teenagers to continue eating all their favorite foods with no restrictions. After eating just brush and floss as usual, no complicated care. Teens who play a sport that requires a mouthguard or play a musical instrument are especially interested in this feature.
Braces
Once your traditional braces come off you will receive either fixed or removable retainers. The retainers will hold your teeth in place while the gums, bone, and muscles adjust to their new positions.
