Coming from both New York city and Sacramento Calif., I know good Mexican and this hit the mark. Had great food, ambiance and good prices. The Americano burrito and carnitas were perfect. Order the poblano mashed for a treat. Great service too.

Good Service-- really, for a day when it was pretty empty the service was just kind of o.k..
Nice atmosphere. The cool dark interior is a sweet escape from the summer traffic, of both the foot and automobile variety, that runs through historic Haleiwa Town.
The portions are small and while the flavors and ingredients are obviously well thought out and the dishes are comprised of the freshest ingredients they don't quite justify the price.
I was really rooting for this little space after reading an article in Coastal Living Magazine featuring North Shore musician and activist Jack Johnson. In it he mentioned Luibuenos as one of his favorites. And I have to tell ya that their beer battered Mahi Tacos are amazing as are their Blackened Ahi Burritos but something about Mexican food says fresh ingredients that are inexpensive and this was anything but inexpensive.
We had our two boys with us and their plates, one had the chicken tenders and the other the cheese quesadillas, were just sort of "eh".
I don't think we'll go back to Luibueno's although, in all honesty, I am already craving the fish taco and we were just there on our drive through the North Shore this afternoon so clearly they're doing something right with their flavors-- I'm just not so sure a quick lunch for four, two of whom are under the age of 10, should cost sixty bucks, and... we all drank just good 'ole water so that price was strictly for food-- the martinis were $9 each and it was just barely noon so they were out on both accounts.
Final Verdict: Go once for the fish tacos and fill yourself up on the complimentary basket of tortilla chips and yummy salsa.
Ooh, and also, extra credit goes to Luibueno's for having a super clean ladies room complete with a changing table and ample room for mommies who may be rolling in a stroller.-- this mama salutes you!
