Meleki Kaplani - Farmers Insurance

I rushed into signing up with farmers through Kristina (Kris) with Mel Kaplani as the agent. I was about to close on my first home so I needed insurance and was just willing to sign up with anyone whom my mortgage company referred me to just to get the closing done. Anyways, I went ahead and paid my full balance for the whole year and that was it. When it came time to renew they sent me a notice and I decided to go with another company which was much cheaper and called farmers to cancel. They did cancel my renewal but about a month after I get a bill in the mail for $113.82 saying that this was the balance from my last year's premiums when I had actually paid it all in full. So, I called up my farmers agent and spoke to Kristina (Kris) and told her about the situation. She tells me that this happened because farmers went out and inspected the home after I signed up with them and they adjust the premiums based on that. I was never told anything about this when I signed up with Mel Kaplani. Supposedly, they sent out a bill for $113.82 right after I signed up with them and she said this was sent to my house three times about two months after I signed up. I never got anything in the mail otherwise I would have contacted them for sure and canceled the policy. It seems to me that they have done this many times before and have mastered it, this way nothing gets traced back to them. They don't tell anyone about farmers inspecting your home after you actually sign up with them and then never send you the additional charges in the mail, this way you don't cancel with them after finding out your premiums went up. Now at the end of my policy year they just claimed that farmers insurance is responsible for the additional charges. So, good luck to anyone trying to figure out who is to blame because Mel Kaplani blamed the post office and farmers insurance group when I spoke to Krisitina (Kris). This is done deliberately by Mel Kaplani and it is very apparent. They are a disgrace to farmers insurance group and should lose their license. We all need to speak up about their scheme.
