Marquis Downtown Apartments

Living at the Marquis Downtown Lofts has been the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment complex. A friend of mine had already been living there so I signed a lease to move in with her... Or so I thought. At first, like almost every other unsatisfied tenant, I was drawn in by the amazing building and rich historical past. First, my room had no door or window- which is standard for a loft but I was not told there would be no windows. Quite drab. Second, living next to the train tracks was a BIG mistake. It's not only extremely noisy but the train would often take so Long that I would be late to work. Third, there cannot be WORSE management than the employees here. They were extremely rude and unapproachable, rarely if ever helping when asked. My rent was astronomical and they often charged the highest rate I've ever seen for water and electric. My roomate and I parted ways but when I told them I did not agree to leave the apartment they said "You do not have a lease with us" and refused to give me a copy of the papers I signed when moving in. Also, the noise was UNBEARABLE and if you get stuck with noisy neighbors above you? Good luck! Management doesnt care and you will lose many nights sleep, I know I did. Frankly, it is in a dangerous area with an extremely dangerous gas station next to it and was a complete waste of money and time. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!!!!
