        Synthesis Energy Systems, also known as SES, is an energy and technology company that builds, owns and operates coal gasification plants. Its coal gasification plants utilize proprietary U-GAS, which is a fluidized bed gasification technology developed by Gas Technology Institute, a leading non-profit research and development organization that was founded in 1941. The technology is used to convert low-rank coal products and wastes into high-value energy products, such as transportation fuel and ammonia. Synthesis Energy Systems maintains plants in Texas and Shanghai and works in association with works in association with Asian Energy Institute (AEI), a developer, owner and operator of essential energy infrastructure businesses, to develop coal conversion projects worldwide.
