Warts may be frozen using liquid nitrogen. With repeated treatments over about four weeks, cryotherapy is approximately 70 percent effective at eliminating warts with minimal, if any, scarring.
Pediatric Care
We are incredibly pleased to offer Mohs skin cancer surgery to our patients as performed by Dr. Gina Marrero. Dr. Marrero is a magna cum laude medical graduate of the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, which she attended after receiving her undergraduate at Cornell University. Dr. Marrero then took part in an internship in pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital and, from there, moved into her residency in dermatology at Brown University. Dr. Marrero pursued her education in Mohs micrographic surgery through a fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is committed to residency education and taught in the Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Clinic at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Her focus continues to be cutaneous oncology and the treatment of skin cancer with Mohs surgery.

Mohs Surgery
If it’s determined that you can benefit from Mohs, your doctor will provide instructions on medications to temporarily stop taking, as they can interfere with healing. The treatment itself is well-tolerated; the area to be treated is numbed before moving forward with layer-by-layer tissue removal and examination. After the process is complete, Dr. Ian Bourhill may close the treatment site, or the wound can be left to heal itself. Many MMS patients set aside about 60 to 90 minutes for treatment at our Mohs surgery center, though we can never predict exactly how long the surgery will require due to the unique nature of the procedure.

Once Dr. Marrero has completely removed the skin cancer from a patient, she hands things over to our very well-esteemed Dr. Ian Bourhill, who performs the necessary plastic surgery after the Mohs has been completed. Mohs surgical procedures, on average, lasts from one to one and a half hours.

Acne Treatment
