This place is a $hit hole. No heat it's 20° colder than outside. Range is dark they won't even put new light bulbs in. It's dirty. No air filtration. I'm embarrassed to even admit I go there but it's one of the only places around to go...and the workers admit it. It's an insult to shoot at such a dump. The town of Islip should shut it down. Disgusting.. don't get me started on the employees.

Please BELIEVE all the negative reviews about this shooting range. I've gone there a few times because its close to my house and is convenient when I don't feel like driving out to Calverton. The place has always been a dumb: very dimly lit, water dripping from the ceiling tiles and just down right dirty. It's kind of like shooting in the NY City Sewer System and not to mention the people working there are rude and have not one ounce of class. But like I said I go because I want to shoot and it's close to home. I went this morning and the guy charged me $23 for the hour while their website says its $20 per hour for non-members. I didn't say anything I just paid the man then I realized I paid him a twenty and a five dollar bill but he never gave me my change. I asked for it and he gave it to me. Whether or not it was a mistake on his part or he was trying to steal my $2 I really don't know, but if I had to guess I would say he was trying to steal my $2... that's the type of people they are in this place. He told me I had to shoot in either booth numbers 13, 14, or 15. When I went into the the area where you actually shoot it looked even darker than usual. All the main overhead lights were either not working or the fluorescent bulbs looked dim, they were blinking like they were just about to burn out and we all know how annoying a blinking fluorescent bulb can be. I went to all three booths and not one overhead light turned on. I tried booth 12 and that one did light up. I went back out and asked the guy behind the counter if I could use booth 12 since that was the only one that actually lit up. He told me no you have to use either 13, 14, or 15 that's the best I can do. I said I just paid $23 and the lights don't even turn on. At that point his facial expression changed from its usual grumpy, non-caring, look to an angry look. He told me to come out and he'll give me my money back and never to come back again. I was happy to leave. On my way out I told him I didn't understand how he is upset with me because I expected the place to have lights. I mean all they have to do is change the bulbs. The place will still be a dump but at least you'd be able to see your targets. He told me to get out. By the way I was the only customer in the place except for three older guys sitting around talking about Harleys and they didn't seem to have any guns so I don't think they were paying customers. I also told the guy behind the counter that he was a heck of a business man and he told me yea and your a great customer... Haha I was his only customer and he threw me out! With no customers in the place you would think the guy running the place would have a little time to change a few bulbs. It amazes me how people like this come to own and run a business in this manner. Now I realize this is a shooting range and it's not going to look perfect. Things will break, people will shoot at things they shouldn't be shooting at, but basic maintenance needs to be done. This guy has the opportunity to turn this place into a goldmine since he's the only one in the area. Even if his crew were polite and didn't fix the place up it would be tolerable. I guess it does't matter to him, but I would stay away from this place no matter what. Please don't give him any of your money. Maybe one day he'll realize and either sell the place to someone who cares or just go out of business. I know I will never go back again. I tried to give a NO STAR rating but could not delete the one star

Started coming here about a month ago, been coming twice a week. I shoot pistols and bring my own ammo. Haven't had any problems and the people are nice, including the ones I've seen described as "bikers." I came too late the second nite, didn't have the hours straight and the next time he saw me, he didn't charge me for the range time because I had "wasted" a trip.
They would get that 5th star except for the leaky roof, caused by all the bullets shot through it. That might explain their initial reticence with new faces, especially those who give off the vibes that they might be yahoos or otherwise not the careful sort.

Seriously horrible experience. Rude does not even begin to describe it. They talk to you like your a child. They have am attitude with everyone. Walked out and didn't even shoot. I strongly Recommend to stay away. Plenty of other places to go.

I didn't get all of the rudeness that the other people have been talking about, but the owner did sound a little rude. I am rather new to the shooting sport and these people made me feel like a numbnuts. They were rude to my friend and when people are rude to my friend they have me to deal with. never going back again.

Rude staff that rather chat with their buddies than help customers. I was ready to plop $1000 down on a firearm, but they ignored me until I just left.

I had been to this rge before to shoot handguns. I noted that they had a section with railroad ties so that two or three spots could be used for rifle and shotguns. I called before visiting this time and asked if you could still use rifles and shotguns there. I was told "yes" and no other additional information.
When I arrived, the man at the counter was rather rude. He also asked to see my ammo. When I said I had a shotgun, he told me that you could only fire slugs.. and only ammo you bought THERE. When I asked why he said "Because this is my range and I'm the boss."
Well, he's the boss of a place with two less customers. If I'd known about this ridiculous requirement, I wouldn't have wasted the time driving down there. And I certainly won't be wasting the time driving down there in the future.
Would NOT recommend.

Don't ever go to this store/ange. Their FFL transfer fees are ridiculously high, their sales staff is inattentive, rude, and would rather chat with their buddies rather than help a customer. Find someplace else if you want your FFL transfers or to buy a gun.
