After you’ve established your travel plans, see Dr. Keith Konkol, travel medicine specialist, who is board certified in infectious disease, at the Mercyhealth Travel Clinic. Dr. Konkol will: •Review your itinerary •Assess your individual health risks •Provide preventive treatment, such as immunizations •Prescribe preventive medication for the trip •Give you disease information about the country you’ll be visiting •Provide follow-up care upon your return Some vaccines are given in a series over several months, so plan ahead and visit the Travel Clinic well in advance of your trip. A prepared traveler is a healthy traveler.
