I have been taking my animals here ever since they moved to Riverside Drive. I have not had any bad experiences and the people are great. I really like Dr. McDonald she is very kind and helpful. Their prices are reasonable and the office is clean. I would like to remind some people that unless you can afford to go to a vet like Dr. Allen, you are going
to see people who may not be the best looking and whose animals might need combing. I have a long haired retriever who looks like I never comb her but I do every day, it's just her hair. I'm always glad to see people that may be poor taking their animals to have medical care. I could go on and on about how great they are here!
Thanks to all the good people there that have taken such good care of my animals!

Do NOT go to this place unless...

Do NOT go to this place unless it's only for a routine vaccination. It may be convenient, but that's about the only thing it has going for it. I've had several bad experiences here over the course of the past year (shame on me).

A couple weeks ago I brought my cat in for his rabies/distemper shot, they did the usual check up beforehand (listening to his heart, checking for fleas, checking ears, teeth, temperature, etc.) and told me he was perfectly healthy aside from his horrendous teeth, and that he would need to have some of them out as soon as possible. The woman also works at an animal hospital in Endwell and was kind enough to give me a two page print out of a quote for feline dental care including all optional things they can do during it at a whopping $300 (keep in mind this DIDN'T include tooth extraction, which was conveniently not listed on the print out, but did however include things such as a "hot water bed").

Over the past couple days my cat has been acting funny, so I ended up taking him to Dr. Loughlin at Allen's. It turns out the cat has a heart murmur, fleas, and one kidney that is considerably larger than the other. They checked ALL of those things at the BAC and said that he was fine outside of his mouth. Oh, and the best part; his teeth are fine. Dr. Loughlin picked off a large chunk of tartar with his fingernail on the "problem tooth" and told me that his teeth look pretty good for being a 10 year old cat.

I had also taken my dog to them twice over the course of a couple months; once for a skin problem and the other time for a very lame leg. She didn't have an infection, but they insisted on her taking antibiotics for the skin problem (it was literally just a rash, no skin was open and she didn't even have a fever), which came to $80 for the prescription alone. For her leg they said that it was a pulled muscle and gave me some pain medication. It turns out that her entire leg was riddled with tumors, and we ended up having her euthanized at Allen's shortly after she had been struggling to walk on her own. Not once did anyone there suggest that it could have been anything other than a pulled muscle.

I don't know if these people are con-artists or just completely incompetent, but do you and your pet a favor and steer clear of them unless you're going for something very routine. You'll end up saving a lot of time and money in the long run if you just go to someone who is very knowledgeable and forthcoming and doesn't try to take advantage of your pet not feeling well. I very highly recommend Dr. Loughlin at Allen's, he is very honest and thorough and works hard to make sure that you understand what is going on with your animal and the wide range of treatments that are available for whatever ailment they may have.

TL;DR - Stay away from the Binghamton Animal Clinic!

I was taking my pets here for ...

I was taking my pets here for years. Maureen McDonald is an exceptional vet. The other Vet here, I am not so fond of. Over the past year the people that I have run into at this place have really gone down hill. It once was an enjoyable experience, and my healthy, well taken care of pets liked going. I just can't stand all of the dirty people (literally, people WITH dirt on them, not just dirty looking) that I run into here, and if I have to hear another life story about the animals these people have and how their pets almost died of Parvo, I think I am going to puke. It is very, very rare for properly vaccinated pets from a shelter or a reputable registered breeder (who should provide full blown medical records for their animals) who have continued to be vaccinated to get Parvo (however, it does sometimes happen). Do most (some pets do contract Parvo despite being properly cared for) of these people realize that they are saying 1. that they don't or didn't give their pet proper medical care (such as proper vaccinations, especially at the crucial time period of when their pet was a baby) and/or 2. they got their pet from a backyard breeder and are contributing to the overpopulation of animals? I have never seen or heard of so many pets with or who have had Parvo, as I have going to this place. Baby animals need to go through a series of shots, you should have known this before you got a puppy, kitten, or whatever. I feel so bad for these pets. It has been very rare, when I have gone here about over the past year, to see a well groomed pet with healthy looking skin, eyes, and coat. It used to be most pets who came in where healthy and just needed a check-up or their shots updated. I just can't stand the clientele I run into at this place any more, and am not going back. I am also sick of these strange people announcing weird stuff to the whole place like my dog has red eyes, must be something wrong with 'em. Yeah, my dog has white fur and pink skin, you moron. You see pink around his eyes, you know, his skin!...Just every time I have gone here over the past year (as I have 4 pets). It just seems like it just gets worse and worse, and I have had it. I would still go, though, if it wasn't for the people who go there. I can't take seeing another seriously ill pet every time I go here because of negligence, not because of an accident (ex. ingested a poisonous plant, fell off of something, was an escape artist and got hit by a car, etc.). It makes you ill, and ruins your whole day.
