Dine here every occasion I get. Prime rib is a must try. Free homeade pickled beats are delicious (if you like beats). Priced a bit high but always worth the price/wait..the owner(s) play a big part in service, which is nice to see in a home town restaurant, here 70+ years. Potatoes are the biggest around. Always a healthy serving . Great atmosphere, live band some weekends (check ahead if you don't want live music). Love this place

When the steaks arrived a roach had hitched a ride out on the bottom of my plate from the kitchen! A second roach then crawled up the wall while the wait staff stood next to our table and watched its progress to hide in the ceiling tiles!!! ICK!!!!

Have been in area for most of my life and this Steak House was a place where the extended family would go to celebrate in lifes many twists and turns. For the past few years have tried to carry on the tradition, but it must be said that this steak house is not worth the time or money. The problem is with the quality of the meat, side dishes and above all the condenscending staff. It is time to quit riding on the attributes of yesteryear reviews, and care about the present . Go back to the mission that was yours when first staring out. We will keep good memories of this establishment, but no longer will be making them at Jess and Jim;s

Since I've moved to OP, KS I've been told several times that I have to try Jess & Jims. So my husband, my daughter, and I finally tried it. I just thought it was an average steak. Nothing special. The service was okay, but again, nothing special. I would maybe try it again, maybe the time we went the service and food were just a fluke. And least if I try it again, my expectations will be low.

The best steaks in the kansas city area, I always have the butterfly strip 28 oz.I would also say plaza III has the second best and Hereford in Leawood third and dont go to the new steak place in Leawood called Sullivans very nice place but very over priced for the quality of steak, side orders not much better.

At first, the resturant looked drab and dim with little decor, just little cows and wooden tables and chairs. For the price, you get plenty of food, including homemade garlic toast and pickled beets with your meal. I had a house special, an 8 oz filet and shrimp scampi, which was reccommended by my server. The scampi sauce was rich and garlicy far beyond what I've had elsewhere. My date tried the Ribeye which was cooked to perfection, and though it looked a little fatty for my taste, he said it was just right, favorful and tender. We shared warm apple pie for dessert which was served with ice cream. overall, i was pleased with the experience.
