A ll these years I hadn't been able to decide what to do about this space. I didn't want to get a bridge, because I'd have to crown the teeth on either side of the space in order to hold the false tooth in place, and one of those teeth had never even had a filling!

Braces
I had an open space in my lower jaw for about ten years. I have a congenitally missing bicuspid, which means the tooth never formed at all. I managed to keep my "baby-tooth" until I was in my mid-thirties, though it always pinched and wiggled a bit. Eventually I decided to get braces to straighten out some crowding, and the baby-tooth was removed. I wore a retainer to keep the space open, because the teeth behind the space (farther back) would naturally drift and tilt forward.
