Regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are important for maintaining your health and the health of your smile. You don't have to lose teeth to periodontal disease, and by practicing good oral hygiene at home, you can significantly reduce your chances of ever getting gum disease. After your checkup and teeth cleaning is complete, the doctor will meet with you to discuss your X-rays, help you create your own individual treatment plan, and answer any questions you may have.

Your child should visit the dentist every six months for regular dental cleanings and checkups. Tooth sealants are recommended because they “seal” the deep grooves in your child’s teeth, preventing decay from forming in these hard-to-reach areas. We use air abrasion to clean the deep pits and grooves before bonding. Sealants last for several years but will be monitored at your child's regular checkups.

Dr. McGuire does not place mercury fillings and observes mercury-safe protocol when removing mercury amalgam fillings, dramatically reducing exposure to mercury vapors during dental procedures. We follow the protocol established by the International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology( www.iaomt.org ).
